I'm sure that the 2008 tournament summed up the mentality we have as Greeks: "we won the European championship playing a certain way in 2004, we'll do exactly the same and we'll be champions again". This is far from the truth. People, things and circumstances change. Quite simply put, our opponents discovered our weaknesses and patiently waited for the moment we gave away the ball. The reason we excelled in 2004 was that our opponents were unable to pinpoint and confront Rehhagel's style of play. Nevertheless, the miracle of 2004 is still a story we can tell our children and grandchildren, to demonstrate our pride as a nation. 🇬🇷
