Greddy Exhaust DYNO TEST // ND Mazda Miata

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Greddy Supreme SP axle-back exhaust dyno tested! Find out how much horsepower an aftermarket exhaust adds to our ND2 Mazda Miata project car. We dyno test our 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF on a Dynojet as part of our new multi-video Miata exhaust comparison series. We'll routinely dyno test our Miata RF as we embark on our Miata modification journey, starting with Miata aftermarket exhausts and midpipes from Goodwin Racing, the Goodwin Racing Roadster Sport Super Street, and the Greddy Supreme SP. Another great video. I like the intro you did. Nothing surprising about those dyno results, but thanks for testing for science and sharing your results. I put the Greddy on my RF and I’m loving the sound and better looking tips.

    Thanks for the positive feedback. I thought I'd try to make the beginning a little fun. I do like the Greddy's dual exhaust tips, and nice deep tone - it will be interesting to see what impact the mid-pipe has.

    Great video Chad. Are you considering adding a header in the future? I know some of the ECU tunes for the ND2 require a new header in order to work. Just curious if this setup with a header would be too loud for normal use.

  • @TheLemonFactor

    Thank you. I’ve considered trying it but only with a proper tune. But I do think it would be pretty loud for me as a daily driver 🤷‍♂️

    I enjoy your videos. Would you say that the replacing the axle back alone would provide any noticeable gain? I honestly do not take my 2017 RF over 4,000 RPM's much, if at all. Thanks again.

  • @TheLemonFactor

    If you’re not taking the car over 4K RPMs, then no, I don’t think you’ll notice any power gains from an axle-back only exhaust.

    Does the louder exhaust add to the feeling of the car ?

  • @TheLemonFactor

    @TheLemonFactor

    3 жыл бұрын

    Depends on your definition of "feeling". Although it's minimal power gains, the sensation is enhanced, especially when you're higher in the RPM band, near redline it feels "zingier". Hearing the deeper tone makes me want to hold the gears longer.

    How were the conditions between these dyno pulls and the original, ie temperature, humidity, etc.? All of these can be a factor in the readings you get, and with such (relatively) close numbers it makes me wonder what affect outside influences had on the results. By the way, big props for using dyno results properly by looking at the differences created by your modifications and not focusing on absolute peak numbers!

    You always want to dyno a car in the gear that gives the closest to a 1:1 ratio for the most accurate numbers.

  • @TheLemonFactor

    @TheLemonFactor

    3 жыл бұрын

    It is common practice to select the gear closest to 1:1, of course within limits. The consensus from Miata tuners seem to be to run your pulls in 4th.

    Interestingly isn’t the Miata 6th gear 1:1

  • @TankRust

    @TankRust

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@seanmarshinski8022 Yes you are correct. However in the case of the Miata, doing a ramp run in 6th gear would mean holding full throttle and load from 50 mph at 2k rpm all the way to 189 mph at 7500 rpm. I'm not sure that would be in the best interest of the dyno or the car. Even a 5th gear pull would be from 40 mph to 147 mph. Given the lower power of the Miata, the dyno operator probably settled on 4th gear to keep the speeds between 30 mph and 120 mph and the ramp runs of reasonable duration.
