It's iconic in Canadian sports history. I was only eight years old at the time, and growing up in the Thunder Bay area, I watched a lot of the Blue Jays whenever I got the chance. Joe Carter was my favourite player at the time, and I still find it amazing how iconic his home run still is 30 years after it happened.

@@bluebear1985 I was 20 and at my mom's recovering from surgery. I'd actually passed out and woke up to my mom screaming and seeing Joe round the bases. At least the year before I was fully awake a sports bar with my buddies!

That home run by Chris Chambliss in Yankee Stadium in the 1970s, and the uncontrolled swarm of fans running onto the field and grabbing at him trying to take his helmet from his head, was emblematic of New York City during that time period-- a dangerously wild place.

I’m shocked the David Freese walkoff home run wasn’t included in this compilation. One of the most clutch performances by a team capped off by a walk off home run and hit by a hometown kid. How is that not included.

Gibson faced closer Dennis Eckersley in the ninth inning of the first game and hit a pinch-hit walk-off home run-often described as one of the most exciting moments in World Series history. Also Missed Chad Curtis World Series walk off to. But they have what is his face hitting to win a central’s NL game 👌

If you like these you’ll love Kirk Gibsons 1988 World Series Game 1 walk off. He could barely walk. The only thing he could do was hit a home run so he did. And the whole thing was announced by legendary broadcaster Vin Scully. One of baseballs great moments.

As a blue jays fan I’ve got to see some great moments. Back to back World Series, Bautista bat flip. Encarnacion walk off in the wildcard game. This call is by far the best I’ve heard. It’s nice to hear that it gives chills to non blue jays fans too

Actually the thing I like about baseball stadiums is that they're not exactly the same. They're all totally different. Not just how they look, but the actual field dimensions vary from stadium to stadium. The fences are all different distances and shapes which make each stadium unique in how it plays.

Reggie Jackson earned the nickname "Mr. October" because of his reputation for hitting lots of home runs during the World Series (Oakland A's 1972, 73, 74 and NY Yankees 1977, 78). An MLB season is 6 months (April to September) with the playoffs and World Series in October. When MLB added the Wild Card and Division Series to the post-season format, the season extended into November. Derek Jeter was nicknamed "Mr. November" for his heroics in the 2001 World Series because part of the series extended into November.

It needs to be clarified - the series was originally scheduled to end in October even if it went to a Game 7. They were only playing in November because the September 11 attacks pushed the playoff schedule back a few weeks.

Historically the World Series ends in October. Reggie Jackson (former Yankee and Oakland A) got many huge hits in the month and is referred to as Mr. October. I believe that Derek Jeter home run was in 2001 and it was the first time games were played in November. So Michael Kay, the Uankees announcer, sort of did a play on the theme.

Jeter is the definition of what a sports icon and role model should be. He had EVERY opportunity in the world to be in scandals with his money and good looks and talent. Never said a mean word to anybody and nobody has ever said a bad word about him, either. He dated around and then settled down after he retired, like you should do as a ball player. I know Red Sox fans who love him. Not to mention, he was Mr. Clutch. He literally hit an RBI single on his very last at bat of his career at Fenway Park, and hit a walk off single on his last home game at yankee stadium on the very first pitch.

Hitting a walk off homerun to win the World Series is one of the greatest things in sports. Not many sports can you win the game, and then get your own personal victory lap around the bases, as everyone watches and waits for you to touch home plate.

How this compilation missed Kirby Pucket in game 6 of the 91 World Series is beyond me. They have Joe Buck's "We'll see you later tonight" and "We'll see you tomorrow night" homers, but they don't have his father Jack Buck's original "We'll see you tomorrow night" call of that Puckett home run. Even more egregious: where is The Shot Heard Round the World? Bobby Thompson's homer off of Branca to win the 1951 NL pennant for the New York Giants over the Brooklyn Dodgers. Most famous home run in history. Oh, and Kirk Gibson in 1988 World Series...where is that one? Don't tell me part 2...those are worthy of part 1. What would really be special is if they could find the first walk-off home run. They were never called that until' one obscure night in a regular season game where someone hit a game winning home run with runners on base. The baserunners were the winning runs, so the batter after he passed first just walked off the field and didn't finish his home run trot. Because of that, someone on ESPN called it a walk-off homer because the batter walked off the field. They wouldn't let that go during Sportscenter for the rest of the year and the name stuck.

Where Puckett's game 6 is concerned, they always cut away about two seconds too soon, missing the part where Puckett walks into the dugout and Chuck Knoblauch (then a rookie) can't stop screaming. Then Knobby looks into the camera and yells "It's O-O-OVER! It's OVER now!!"

I am reliably informed (!) that I was in the crib and the radio was tuned to the 1960 World Series when Bill Mazeroski hit his Game 7 walk-off home run for the Pirates.

Only two players can claim to have hit a home run to win the last game of the World Series. Joe Carter was the second one to do it when he won with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993. The first was Bill Mazeroski, who did so for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960.

The home run at 6:00 was a moment of mixed emotions for this Red Sox fan. After being eliminated from the playoffs the previous season by the Yankees (an Aaron Boone walk-off home run), the Red Sox were trailing 0-3 games in the 2004 ALCS (the semi-finals before the World Series). Many fans, including me, agreed with the Boston sportswiter who wrote that if the Red Sox win today, it is only so that it will hurt more when they lose tomorrow. After the Game 3 win by the Yankees, 19-8 in a rout, I did not want the suffering prolonged. Part of me was annoyed by the stressful, hours-long, dramatic win by the Red Sox because in the 100 years of MLB playoffs, no team had ever won a best-of-seven series after losing the first 3 games. The 2004 Red Sox remain the only MLB team to accomplish this. When the Red Sox beat the Yankees in Game 7 in New York, watching the Yankee fans witness an improbable defeat of their team was the only time I have ever experienced schadenfreude. It felt like the Yankee defeat and the subsequent Red Sox World Series win, their first in 86 years, balanced some sort of cosmic scale. Since then, I have never taken pleasure in a Yankees defeat by any team.

I WAS weeping like a baby after game 7. People poured out of the bars on the street I was at. Top 3 favorite moment in my life.

They missed Bobby Thomson's walk off HR in 1950 that put the New York Giants in the World Series (The Giants had yet moved to San Francisco). The announcer's call is iconic. They missed Johnny Callison's walk off HR in the 1964 All-Star Game that gave the National League a win over the American League. The ASG was at Shea Stadium that year. They missed Carlton Fisk's HR at Fenway Park in 1975. Iconic video of Fisk standing at the plate, "pushing" with his hands for the ball to stay fair.

How could they not have included the Aaron Boone walk-off against the Red Sox. Another iconic homerun.

The Houston Astros are baseball's newest dynasty and have dominated the game for 5+ years now. I heard you guys used to live in Houston and enjoy baseball so i suggest watching The Astros most recent road to the World Series. Currently, they're also the most notorious team in baseball but despite the hate they bring, they've also brought tons of new attention back to the game of baseball.

That was a great question about rather a home run in World Series or TD catch for the Super Bowl. That is tough, I want to say the Super Bowl but honestly hitting a home run to win the World Series makes you a legend in American sports forever. But who knows both would be fantastic haha

I miss your old field. My dad was there on a business trip and said the exterior looked like a castle. The new indoor one is indoor and fancy but he said it looks bland. I get that it’s Texas and it’s a summer sport but I miss the look of Globe Life Park

@@Zach-mw5so yeah it is a good field. Thankfully it is still there. Currently it is used for the XFL Arlington Renegades, big high school football games, and concerts. The new field might look bland but it is great. I will always love the old one, summers as a kid we would go to every home game. Buy the $1 nose bleed seats and then go sit in the center field bleachers. Rangers weren’t great in the late 90s so seats were cheap and they didn’t check tickets.

Daz, I’ve mentioned this before but I really think you two should watch the documentary “the Curse of the Bambino”, about the Red Sox and their 86 year losing streak. You like Bostonians and baseball history is so much a part of our culture. I know you guys would enjoy it. It truly captures the way Americans feel about their baseball teams, whether it’s the Red Sox or not.

And most Boston fans might not realize the incredible cards team and what a series it was between Houston to get to the World Series. Also how inhospitable place Boston was. Probably fitting the cards collapsed in the WS knowing the contribution the cards made to the curse in the 50s :).

Typically the World Series ends by October. For some reason I don't remember that year it went past October into November for the first time ever. Hence Mr.November.

That was 2001. MLB suspended their season for a week after 9/11, so the remainder of the season got pushed back a week resulting in the Series going into November.

You guys should check out a video on all the MLB stadiums. They might all look the same at night when they’re all full but I guarantee you they’re all vastly different from each other. I reckon you won’t find more variation between stadiums than the MLB since fields in baseball do not have set dimensions.

Vin Scully's call was better "High fly ball into right field. She is gone!” Then a minute of silence to let us enjoy the insane atmosphere, the crowd noise, the Gibson fist pump as he limps around the bases Then: "In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened!"

Some dimensions of a baseball field are different actually, but some are similar. A walk off homerun has to be the coolest thing ever in sports

As a Yankees fan, I would love to hit a World Series home run to win it at Yankee Stadium. But I must point out that a Super Bowl touchdown would most likely be seen by more people because the entire world seems to be glued to that one game. When more than half the world is watching, you become world famous in 2 second on one play with one big catch.

For most of history the baseball playoffs were held entirely in October, but recently the World Series has extended into November. The Mr November thing ended the first ever game that went into November, that was in 2001.

Mr. November would be referring to being clutch in that month.

That's just the thing, Lasorda didn't put him in by design, Gibson told had someone tell Tommy he could go after hearing Vinny talk about how Gibson was not on the bench for the whole of the game, and Tommy said, okay.

So Reggie Jackson was known as Mr October, he played for the Yankees for a while. He did damage in the playoffs... but as the playoff field got wider (wild card and all that) in the modern game it pushed into november. That's where the Jeter November thing came from. Jeter's also one of the most hilariously overrated players of his generation... and I'm from NY.

The thing is, in baseball, the hitter still has to touch home plate… If they don’t, there is still the potential for an out. Look into “the Merkel Boner”.., and you’ll learn that it has cost team’s championships. So, when the fans Rush the field before he touches home, it could be considered interference, creating an out, and reversing the actual ending.
