Good for you Gel , I'm sure your Good-Geezer wouldn't of wanted 😉 you to have been "too sad (none of me beeswax o'course ) when it came to moments where you shared and felt the Good-times . I lost my misses 7yrs 10 months ago so I know similar feelings, it's always hurt abit when someone said they knew "Exactly" what Iwas going through so I don't want to use that phrase but... I definitely know thee at least melancholy feelings that tht you must feel when 'little moments like watching 👀 an old series like Delboy's ,Rodgers and Grandad (definitely the Grandad one's for us!) can stir you up quite a bit and sometimes friends see your Crying as just misery when half the time it's actually you remembering a damn good Laugh that you used to have that hardly Anyone knows, because they weren't there to see the laughter and the sheer (and sometimes Silly fun!) Joy that you gave to each others Lives... I can only Hope that 🙏 you remember those moments with happiness like I do because honestly without her? I can atleast say I wouldn't be half the person (& funny idiot!!!) That I get Told I am today... May your special person That Was.. Its writing was very much of its time. Early eighties till late 90s London. And its those times and moments that never fade expecally if you was living and working in London at the time. I was, In Brixton and Streatham hill bur worked in the city. The wine bar episode and scenes encapulates the early 90s for me. That is what it was exactly like. Bistros and wine bars everywhere. We even had days off when the first wines come across from France and spent all day in the nearest wine bar. Most lunch times in the pubs and Fridays all afternoon in the city. Great times.

I think Grandad was funnier, he seemed drier humoured, the funniest line he delivered like it was a unremarkable comment yet was so funny. Yes, stuff like this where Del takes a beating so that Rodney won't have to. The comedy is brilliant but those "real" moments are done so well. Even later on, in episodes where Cassandra has a miscarriage, there's some beautiful moments there but they still get a laugh out of a sad situation when Del tells Rodney to not cry, be strong for his wife but then Del breaks down himself. Brilliant.

Yes, that descent of the stairs was poetry in motion..... God Bless you, Lennard Pearce.....He sure had his moments. "You were gun running during a civil war!" Says Rodney, incredulously.... "Well, that's the best time to do it!" And, to Rodney, going out with a 40-year-old woman: "Even I would have to think twice!" Then to Rodney, again, in response to him saying they were investing in property: "What is it....a Wendy House?" (I believe he ad-libbed that one!.) Brilliant. RIP Lennard. And thank you.

True story, my grandfather visited from Zimbabwe, didn't care much for UKTV besides Newsnight & other Beeb current affairs but Only Fools & Horses had him crying with laughter. Last year my nephews 4 & 10 were protesting about watching "this crusty show" with their Venezuelan grandma backing them up. All three were laughing their heads off rewinding bits and became hooked. 3 very generations, very different cultural backgrounds and same result. Only Mr Bean matched that but without any words. OF&H is a timeless classic.
The chandelier episode where the word solar energy is mentioned was ahead of it’s time. Sir David Jason’s accent and acting abilities really made it. The chemistry between Del, Rodney & Grandad was amazing. The humour is pure class. John Sullivan was a genius in writing Only Fools & Horses. The sweeper driver was married to Anna Karen from On The Buses.

Protecting his little bruv from a hiding, that's priceless.
Grandad answers the phone Grandad: hello, no del's gone out, I'm not sure then grandad looks as del & says Grandad: where you gone to del 😂😂
ONE OF THE FUNIEST SHOWS. LOVED ALL THE BRITISH COMEDYS. SORRY TO HEAR OF THE LOSS OF JOHN CALLIS. GOD BLESS.. WILL NEVER BE FORGOTEN. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
Series went to pot after Grandad left. Series 1 -3 were simply the best ever.

I absolutely do not agree. The funniest scene in my opinion was when uncle Albert was meant to act shocked when he found out Rodney had a date with another woman. Grandad didn't leave, he died in real life so obviously had to write him out of the series somehow
I always end up pissing myself laughing before the chandaleeeer faws 🤣😂🤣😂
The best comedy ever makes you laugh all the time
“What happened to you?” “Me? Na nothing, Rodney got a bloody good hiding though” (that’s the bit cut from that last scene) 🤣
My wife doesn't have any sense of humour. But watching these guys she just can't stop laughing at every ipisods. Thank you guys.
John Sullivan was the greatest comedy writer EVER. A GENIUS

I always prefer the older series with Lennard Pearce as Grandad. It was still good when Uncle Albert came along but Grandad had the best one liners

timeless classics, the best sitcom ever from the UK, and I have every episode, and they are still funny not matter what, the only other comedy that comes close is Fawlty Towers, but only 12 of these were made.

Fawlty Towers was limited to 12 episodes, by John Cleese and Connie Booth, to avoid diluting what they had achieved in the two series: They knew it would be a mistake. Even Only Fools & Horses fell into this trap towards the end...with "Christmas Specials" and ludicrous storylines....The BBC was famous for this. They ruined many a fine memory of decent comedies over the decades. Over Exposure never works. But...The BEEB never learns.
I've watched every single episode at least 10 times. I'm now able to describe each episode just based off of the title. Friday the 13th, the Russians Are Coming, and the Longest Night are favourites of mine.
