Look in totality not before or after a certain time period. Kumble is biggest match winner for India before sachin, sehwag, laxman , anyone else

Agreed. Saqlain's record also is far better than Kumble in ODIs. Avg of 21 to Kumble's 31. Strike rate of 30 to Kumble's 43...has many more 4 and 5 wicket hauls than Kumble despite playing nearly half of what Kumble has played. Has a better batting avg too lol.

@@alexroy1220 Hmm well yes, but cant judge a player over 4 years when he has played for 15 years and over 300 games. Depends, Anwar has a much better batting strike rate, slightly lesser avg, less centuries against minnows compared to dada.

Good selection guys. But obviously Saqlain in place of Kumble. Saqlain was even better than Murali in ODIs.

To each their own preference brother. Saeed Anwar was a class batsman no doubt however if you go by records & stats then Sourav Ganguly has more runs, more centuries, more fifties, more wickets and a successful captain. Ganguly scored 10,000/- runs faster than even S. Tendulkar. Additionally, unlike S. Anwar Ganguly also bowled and got many wickets (his best bowling figure of 5/16 was against Pakistan).

The rest of the team, given the constraints, looks reasonable.

With already 4 fast bowlers in the team, I would prefer a additional spinner & following cricket in my teens during the 80’s Abdul Qadeer to me was almost as good or even better than Warne… Reserve players are always important in the over all strategy… 1. Am additional specialist opener in Saeed Anwar in case of injury.. 2. Rahul Dravid - a solid middle order batting replacement in case of injury with additional skills of wicket keeping… 3. Assuming the World Cup is being played in the Sub continent, an additional spinner (in case the pitch demands a off spinner that is) I would have Harbhajan Singh .. it was very difficult not to choose soqlain ..

Too many fast bowlers. I would go with Saqlain instead of Srinath. 4 fast bowlers, 2 spin bowlers with 1 part time med pacer in Ganguly, 1 part time left arm spinner in Yuvraj and 1 part time everything in Sachin Tendulkar.

I am a great admirer and fan of Kapil Dev, both, as a cricketer and human being. But In any fair assessment, Imran Khan would always be chosen over Kapil Dev because he has a superior record, in batting as well as bowling. Please go check the stats. @@zafarov1965 In tests yes, Imran was better - In ODIs, they have similar bowling stats but its ODI batting in which Kapil is a clear winner - he has an astounding strike rate of 96..Imran has an ODI strike rate of 72. But yeah, if it is an overall team, Imran over Kapil.

Anwar in place of Ganguly - agreed. Shoaib in place of Srinath - not really sure. Both are kind of at par and Srinath has a better action lol

Icc cleared him..he had natural hyperextension in his arms...so admit the fact that He is a fastest bowler in the world and i think you can't ignore wasim waqar shoaib trio in the subcontinent team..because they are best of all time so far..same like you can't ignore sachin,kapil, gavaskar virat because they are greats of all time

@@drashiqhussainmir105 Salman butt has scored 5 century against India in 23 matches. He's the most successful Pakistani opening batter against India in ODI . If he wouldn't involved in spot fixing,he would be probably one of the best opener that Pakistan had ever produced.
