You cut the last MOMENTS of many of the songs. The last FOUR OR FIVE SECONDS of "what's your name" is kinda silly. My friends and I would always sing it and laugh. I was looking forward to singing it and laughing again. I was disappointed.

I was born just in 1943 before the war ended. I greatly enjoyed my travel through the "60s. Great music, a lot of it still survives and is used a lot in advertising. So much for the people who predicted it wouldn`t last. I still listen to lots of it and find it very relaxing. The 60s.....what a beautiful decade. I`m so glad I didn`t miss it.😅👍

I really, really wish that you were right !.But you´re not. When you and i are gone, fue younger persons will really remember/care about this music treasure called "The 60´s" anymore. And when they are gone too, what´s left of Creedence, Marvin Gaye, Janis Joplin, Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka, The platters, Nancy Sinatra etc., is just "curosities from the past" (like most people considers Tommy Dorsey, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miiller or Satchmo today). The beatles has an historical bearing of its own, that might secure its future existence for some extra 40-50 years i think. Like Elvis). I just want to cry when i think about the manure stacks of so called music that has, a continues to be, called "modern music". It´s so, so sad...

Freedom in my childhood growing up in the '70s. Rode my bike all over the place, staying out until the street lights flickered on, and the sun had dipped below the horizon. Eight track tapes, record players, knowing all your neighbors, block parties, playing with all the neighborhood kids in their yards and in the streets. Sucking on popsicles, climbing trees, and playing Ghost in the Graveyard. Beautiful memories.

We can't really explain to younger people what America was like, the music the FEELING OF FREEDOM, as with all things it has to be experienced. I'll be eternally grateful to my brother for indoctrinating me to all of the wonderful music of that decade. So, so many great sounds. Go boomers. I remember and loved most of these songs. The 1960's were the greatest decade for great music. Music you could remember, memorize the lyrics and enjoy. I was in high school then college, got married and had our first and only child during the 1960's. So it was a pivotal decade in my life. I'm and old man today but these tunes are still fresh in my mind. Thanks for posting.

There is sooo much about this wholesome era which just floods my eyes with tears! I was a teenager in the 1960's and this music was literally, "our world". We would get together with either a small transistor or a small portable 45 player and all gather around while playing the music. Many of the dances would always end in "close dancing" to this music -- oh, the days. Also, people were healthy, outdoors, friendly and NOT FAT!. My only gripe from those days was too many people were smoking. I'm definitely in my autumn years and while I have a grown family, I also took on the responsibility to raise a grandchild who was severely neglected - I took him as my son when he was just two months old. He's now almost 14 and I love him dearly but I am so worried about the world I am leaving him. As of now, he still does not have a cellphone, that's one thing I have been able to limit but he has his PC/Laptop going flat out day and night. He doesn't eat Mac's, KFC and other "fast Foods, be doesn't have high sugar "soft drinks" (Soda's) and prefers home cooking and water. I notice a huge difference between him and his classmates; he is being raised as though he was a generation before. When I'm gone, I really worry about him.

@@replyhere590 True but it isn't really subjective. In the 17th-18th century serious composers studied for their entire lives. Tempo, composition and presemtation were blended to perfection. Starting in the late 1950s electronic amplification and distortion (not necessarily a bad word) provided new venues for artistic expression. The mega stars of this musical era were all classicaly trained and they took advantage of that training to wring all they could from their new tools of the trade. By the late 1980s most avenues of this new expression had been thoroughly explored. There simply wasn't anywhere new to go. Pink Floyd and Queen were the high water mark. When you reach the top there's no where left to go. Music began to seriously devolve and visual presentation became their only path "forward". When a thing has reached its end then it's over. To put a time on it...music ended with the death of Freddy Mercury. My opinion anyway. Fortunately there is a huge body of outstanding music available for perusal and enjoyment.

One of American pop music moments, there are others, for instance baroque, classical and romantic 1700-1860 in Europe. Part of the American 50s music was "semi-classical", which was the aforementioned classical music done as pop songs. "Stranger in Paradise" was pop lyrics and arrangement of "Polovetsian Dances" by Borodin. There were several. If you were in another culture, you would have beloved periods of their music. Maybe even greater was tin pan alley/American songbook songs of the 30s- early 50s. Stardust, In Other Words (Fly Me to the Moon), Sinatra type stuff. Linda Rondstadt and Willie Nelson both did albums of this music. Doesn't rock, but it is over the top beautiful. The 50s were not particularly innovative or memorable, although there are always some great songs. We alll love the culture of our youth. Some get better than others, for instyance in 1975 rock disappeared and there was only country, disco, and metal. And the real period of that music was 1964-1975, before and after was different. The boomers were so numerous that we took over from corporate music, which is currently near 100% dominant.
