Greater Works - Part Two
When studying the Bible, context is crucial. In John 14, Jesus promised His disciples that they would do “greater works” than He and that if they would “ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” Alistair Begg provides incisive perspective into the context of Jesus’ words, reminding us that the greatest work of God is the redemption of His people. When we pray according to God’s purposes and promises, we can be assured that God will answer our prayers for His glory.

What an amazing reminder that Christianity is about Jesus, not us. It involves us, but we are here for him. James 4:3 ~ when we ask and do not receive, we have asked for wrong motives, to squander it on ourselves and not for his glory. Amazing message. What a beautiful way to have started my day.
This sounds like a very adult understanding of God's workings. I am conflicted. “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Every child I know would take a parent at their word.
Thank you pastor BEGG, times are urgent , we need to hear the WORD OF GOD BEING PREACHED IN SUCH AN URGENT AND HONEST WAY-wish that part one and part two could be broadcast worldwide . the world needs to hear this true preaching, amen .
Thank you Alistair Begg and Truth For Life. This was a great two part sermon. I think you are correct about this subject. There are more important works of faith to be done than performing miracles for people. Even if you could move a mountain by faith, what great thing have you accomplished in the end? You moved one big pile of rocks from over here to over there. So what? But if you take a hopeless soul that has been tortured and destroyed and deprived of the redeeming knowledge of God and introduce him or her to a new way of thinking about life, then you have performed a truly great miracle.
Many years ago I read a missionaries account of how God moved a mountain. It was a Japanese school, the classroom was always dark because of a hill just adjacent to their school. They also needed somewhere to play. So having heard this fact about mountains being removed in His names asked for this hill to be removed. Unknown to them was the fact that the Japanese government were having a huge reclamation project. The contractors turned up and removed the mountain! What a lesson in prayers given in the a name of Jesus. As you say answered so that faith would develop in their lives and not on a whim of fancy.
Blessings. I pray for a transformation of my character, and lead and guide me to be a true servant of the true God, Jesus.Amen.
This message was and is such a great blessing. We should pray that we are fully able to embrace it.
It all comes down to whether it's God's will or not. He will give you the desires of your heart if it's in his plan. Remember, we are here for his pleasure. Either you're obedient enough to accept it or not, it's between you and the lord.
Greetings. True prayer comes from the Holly Spirit presence in our lives. Your Kingdom come. Amen.
