I was able to got this 6 days before it actually released in our country. as my first smartwatch it gets the job done and I love the useful sleep tracking

cheap and cheerful! I bought the very first bands about 7 years ago for a tenner and it was pixel display but did everything. I got so many comments when wearing it, looked very different.

That shoe attachment is great for when im lying in the coach with my hands behind my head!

Same. I’ve had them all and only the 6 let me down with water, however, hot baths, showers and saunas I’m sure do not help the seal(s). I went back to the 5 and waiting for the 9 as my kids got the 7 and 8 while dad went back to the 5! 5 is basic (for 2024) but I only use it for jump rope, freestyle and and indoor cycling and it’s good enough. Love the bands for what they are! I’m waiting on the 9 ❤ Only downside for me was going from Zepp to MiFitness and the migration. I lost from 2015 to 2019 data which was gutting but most of the had migrated to Apple Health so not alllll was lost. I went back to zepp…

Does it have a Wheelchair activity yet? As a wheelchair user, it's always kind of annoyed m how it'll track something like tug of war, but wasn't able to track rolling. :) It's a frustrating thing, because there's a formula you can use to convert walking miles to rolling miles. it works out that 1 walking calorie = 0.857 rolling calories. So you would just have to modify the walking activity to turn it into a rolling one.

Great review. I've been getting back into wearing proper mechanical watches but I miss the tracking and notification pop ups of a smart band so this seemed like a good option as it looks quite a bit more like a bracelet than a smartwatch (at least if you get the right kind of replacement strap), so it wont look as weird if I wear it with a watch in the other wrist

The weather isn't really that nasty, I'm still in shorts and a T-shirt indoors and for walking tirips. I DO like the Mi Band shape. But consider getting a metal strap for it, my silicone strap was swapped out within a week.

Hmm, what options do you have? I noticed it’s a whole new strap system. I really enjoy velcro and nato straps, is there anything like either of those available?

​@@shaunrichardson2440 If you have a Mi Band 5, 6 or 7, I don't recommend buying it. Because it's not too different in terms of features, just a bigger and brighter screen. But if you don't have one, the Mi Band 8 is very good in its price range, the only comparable good competitor is the Huawei Band 8.

Returned mine on the first day. I just wanted a watch with a heart monitor but this watch needs to be connected to the xiaomi app on your phone or it bricks itself. I set up the watch then unpaired the phone, then the watch went back to the QR code screen and refused to function until I connected it back to a phone.

Sleep data compared to pixel watch 2 is really different. According to mi band 8 I'm getting loads of deep sleep.

Yes, it does, but in my past experience (mi band 6), it did not sync automatically in the background with Health like an Apple Watch would. You have to open the mi app to let is sync.

i had a screen protector for a previous version and if u plan to get it wet or wear it in the rain then the adhesive peels off

Hi, I know this reply is very late. There is a setting that stops waking the screen (unless you touch) after it becomes late at night. But you can disable that

The 60hz display might be the biggest selling point for people who have older versions.

Not sure why you would get this at £40 or more rather than the Xiaomi Redmi watch 3 active at £31 with the same app and facilities + it's much more usable bigger screen, better watch faces and bluetooth phone facility ? Pity there's still no NFC payment on any global Xiaomi device ☹️

Would prefer if it was more rectangular with rounded edges (like a tiny smartphone) and slightly wider but slim. This oval shape is pretty disappointing, you lose ~15% of screen space with this shape.
