@@wl4dymir i don't know why people are writing Ding off like he's a nobody. in my opinion Ding still has a pretty good chance to retain the title - THIS ONE TIME at least. to me it's like 60-40 in favour of Ding. he had a bad tournament and isn't playing much. it doesn't mean he's not preparing for the upcoming match. if anything, it implies the contrary.
Vegas hates this one simple trick of listening to Ben's predictions.
Amazing prediction. He became the youngest challenger at the age of 17.

Gukesh beat Fabi with black pieces today. Very convincing and a strong attacking game. Who says Gukesh is boring? GM Finegold was so accurate in his prediction and analysis. Hats off Sir!

Exact prediction. Gukesh will be 18 next month so before the WCC starts.
He won 8/8 in olympiad, he really goes for the win even at slightest chance presented
South Indians have been writing their names in an unconventional manner for several generations. They initialize thier family name as the first letter and write their given name. So he pribably was writing his name as D. Gukesh. Dommaraju is actually his family name or last name. In the US and even in North India his name should be Gukesh Dommaraju. By the way his family should be originally from Andhra not Tamilanadu. Another entertaining and insightful lecture by Ben.

Few days after this video Gukesh played phenomenal chess at the olympiad.. With a perfect score he is the 2022 Olympic gold medalist
@vibovitold

he didn't achieve a perfect score, he scored 9/11 (drawing against Keymer and Mamedyarov, losing to Abdusattorov) - which is still nothing short of amazing of course, he won 8 games in a row, including beating Caruana with black!
Leave it to Ben to find the next World Champ challenger. Well done Ben.
it honestly boggles my mind as to why you are so under appreciated Ben. Go BEN!
His father's name is Rajnikanth, no wonder Gukesh is crushing people in the Olympiad. It was inevitable.
8:00 "he's uncompromising; he doesn't play slow, boring, drawish chess." That's my boy! The chess players we love! Go Gukesh! Especially liked the match with N. Abdusattorov. Two chess prodigies playing great chess.

Thank you for continuing to do lectures. I loved GM Finegold's lectures from years before the twitch stream and I am thankful there are still new lectures being made
In April 2024,, this almost 2 year-old video is looking like one of Ben's best. The comments starting at at 5:55 (especially 6:04) and 49:27 (esp. 50:00) have aged particularly well at this point. It is good to see a player who is solid in his preparation, likes "double-edged" and exciting matches, and gets wins as black. Obviously his Candidates performance didn't come out of nowhere. 4.5 points as black even with one loss! Impressive. Ben, we'll need another video, Gukesh v2. While you're at it, give us some good Candidates 2024 content too! Good luck to Gukesh in the world championsip match later this year!
As "an old guy", especially, (a mathematician, Go player, chess player, etc.) I am endlessly entertained by your facetiousness and self-deprecation, etc. Keep it up! :)

Hey Congratulations on 100k, Ben! I know I'm late (terrible!), but still! Always enjoy your lectures (:
Man I miss these lecture
Thank you Sir given good information and analysis
Pronunciation guide: Gukesh: gook-AESH ('gook' like 'cook') Praggnanandhaa: prug-NAA-nund-uh ('prug' like 'plug') And repeating what others have already said - some Indian naming conventions put the father's name (or sometimes the place of birth or the name of the community/subcaste) in front of their given names. So Gukesh is his given name, and Dommaraju is possibly the name of his community. And Rameshbabu is Praggnanandhaa's (and Vaishali's) father's name.
Great lecture, very prescient. Thanks Ben
Thanks Ben

Relentless attacks by Gukesh!
Nice Games ! Go gukesh !
Go Ben!
Was the Wren construction sponsorship a joke?
Gukesh will be the world champion in a few years, mark my words
20:23 White: Qxc5, I love that move.
Players who can play any position regardless of how familiar they are with it will always have a huge edge in Chess
Which Wren Construction was he talking about? The on in Washington state or the one in UK or...? Perhaps be more specific of which area that company is servicing in future sponsorship segments.
Paweł Teclaf fell out of his chair, and rightly so indeed, because it happened after blundering a drawn position into a mate-in-2 or so. He uttered an expletive too : )
3 days later he is world #20 2729 :)
Mr. Finegold you forgot Arjun Erigaisi. Raunak Sadhwani is another but he may take year plus to get to 2700.
Ben, great content as always. But this is especially with how Gukesh is playing during the Olympiad.
" I have done deep anayls of these positions, and I have no idea what is happening" well guess we know who would win between Gukesh and Finegold lol
Doramamu Gukesh
Do you have a lecture on how to draw with black? You mentioned the Petroff and the "Baltic" ??

6:00 OK Ben which numbers should I buy for the lottery
34:58 Didn't Fischer advocate for more randomness, less preparation in chess? Gukesh is doing a great job of emulating those beliefs.
Nice show by Finegold - as always. But - chess can't be that easy with playing h6 and g5 and winning :)

Gukesh style is like Inish giri`s!
Gukesh D. is a top 10 junior for years now, getting stronger since the day he touched a chess piece. Years later now. He won six games in a row in a super strong tournament. What a great insight and discovery by Ben... Everybody saw Gukesh coming, since 2018.

It’s kind of a joke, but also if your opponent thinks you’re willing to draw and chooses not to repeat first then they’re the one making a concession. It’s always worth it to repeat 1 or 2 times if you think it’s the best move.
