You might as well start bitching about the brittish hiding behind their channel, or the afghans using their mountains and the vietnamese their jungles to wage and endless guerilla war. There are no rules in war, only victory, and everyone will use every advantage they can to win.

Strange, all those battles you mentioned, the Swedes were yet outnumbered 2:1 or more. And none of those battles between 1700-1708 were decisive losses. The armies of Charles XII, Rehnskiöld and Lewenhaupt remained undefeated until Poltava(And Lesnya were Lewenhaupt were outnumbered 3:1).

Of All My Intention To be fair, Denmark-Norway was the primary power that formed and held together the Northern Alliance. Without Danish diplomats constantly doing their best to improve relations between the members of the alliance, the ant-Swedish coalition could have easily been torn apart through internal disagreements many times over. As it was, it managed to stay together (although alliance members were consistently knocked out of the war by Sweden they always managed to rebound) almost until the very end of the war

Okay I’m doing a school product in English and wanted to talk about the great northern war and found this video and it help me a lot. But there is a big problem in the video it says that the alliance declared war in 1708 but that Sweden took Pollen 1702 I think you misunderstand because the new anti Swedish alliances happen in 1708 but was the second not the fist that was in 1700.

I'll assume from that wee comment you're point is why I brought up the atrocities in Finland and not Poland. Well I I had a whole section about the invasion and civil war in Poland. And, maybe it was foolish of me, but I thought most people would be smart enough to assume atrocities would be committed in any war. I mean watch any of my videos, I barely mention them. But I can imagine that won't satisfy you. I'm going to hazard a guess that you're Polish and would like just as much attention, or slightly more attention, paid to your country. So I dedicated 3 seconds to Finland because I'd say the atrocities there were particularly brutal and disastrous for the region. In Finland Cities like Umea were burnt to the ground, thousands were just killed, more were enslaved and sent to help build St Petersburg and, along with the plague, over half of the population of Helsinki was wiped out.

  • @andreascovano7742

Jabzy I'll assume you're swedish and everywhere the swedish went tey destroyed towns churches and castles, stole countless art and looted the countriside: of all major cities in the commonwealth only Lwow and Gdansk weren't destroyed and the swedes rendered poland a cultural desert. Even to this day they have polish works of art that they promised to return yet somehow never do. And while numbers render everything distant the number of towns, castles and churches destroyed are roughly: 188 cities, 81 castles and 136 churches. Plus 67 libraries and 17 archives. I don't quite see how "minor" this massacre is compared to what happend in Finland and when the lovest number of population lost is 20% and the max is around 50% I couldn't care that finland lost only 2 cities. sorry

The Barbary Corsairs and the North African cities that sponsored them were officially Ottoman vassals but they disregarded the Sultans’ policies PLENTY of times and even fought against the Ottomans on rare occasions. Another example is the Crimean Khanate, whose rulers were for a long time allowed to conduct their own diplomacy with foreign nations free of Ottoman interference
