Ugh...The Wars of the Roses book is stunning! So many great photos and maps in the Osprey books, too! 👏🏻 Have _not_ started reading D-Day yet 🙄 but will get to it...probably tonight. Thanks for sharing. 🇺🇸

Kershaw's Dunkirk from the German perspective is a very good book, a different take on what the Brits had spun a defeat into a heroic retreat.

I have been to Bosworth Field (it is about 30 miles from my house). That War of the Roses book looks great. Have read Dan Jones book on the subject, which is excellent. Always look forward to your military history videos.

Those Osprey books always look so tempting, but I'm afraid to start collecting them. I recognize potential addictions when I see them. I've been getting all highbrow and snooty with some philosophy, but I need to start getting down and dirty with the D-Day action too. Have a nice week! Looking forward to seeing the new bookshelves. By the way, I saw a really goofy old movie about Blackbeard the Pirate a while back. At one point, he talks about dragging a treasure across the Isthmus of Panamarr. I spent the rest of the movie trying to figure out why Blackbeard could pronounce Isthmus but not Panama. Yeah, yeah, I know; because pirate, that's why. Oh, and did you visit Knossos while on Crete? I've heard complaints that all the reconstruction makes it feel kind of fake. I'd be curious to hear your impression.

Well, I was on Uncle Sam's time while on Crete...so a tourist visit to Knossos was not in the cards, sadly. But me and my two male Air Force buddies did find a topless beach (?!). Go figure.

@TheHistoryShelf Well, at least that's the sort of environment where real versus fake can be easily overlooked. Or so I've heard. 😇
