Don’t worry about the owlet on the left. These birds of prey will seem to favor one over the other at feedings, but since they have several feedings a day ,he will definitely get his fill next time.

The owlet in the middle appears the youngest/smallest. I know many raptors stagger their clutches so maybe shes helping the little one "catch up"? The two owlets either side appear strong and alert, growing hard too, I think this brood will do fine 🙂

At least it got one bite !! Such beautiful animals !! Got my heart broke one night !! Was on my way to the hospital all of a sudden one came flying down from the sky right into my left front fender !! On my way back I stopped to see what it was & it was a beautiful owl !! I said to myself I wasn't going to leave it lying there so I brought it home & gave it a good burial !! I know it's against the law but in a situation like that looks like they would make it ok to take it to a taxidermist to have it stuffed for a beautiful mantlepiece decoration !!

These GHO's will kill other raptors just for their nest. I'd like to see an Eagle swoop in and grab the adult followed by an Osprey and Red Tailed Hawk to grab the chicks.
@sardu555 жыл бұрын
Great camera work, but a God awful ugly subject to spoil the broth. Can't see what anyone finds in these things, especially the young owlets. Rather than being an airborne version of a cat, and their ability to take out massive numbers of mice and even rats in hard times, the GHO provides little function. The larger owls will kill and eat just about anything, to include other prey birds (they enjoy the slow and weak Ospreys and kill them right on their nests). I've seen the GHOs handiwork in the field. One had caught a large and worthless female Muscovy duck who tried to fly away when the GHO seized it. It then proceeded to chew the ducks head off at the neckline, chewing and tearing as it went. Finally ripping the head off, the GHO flew away to eat the head leaving the Muscovy behind. When the GHO came back 2 hours later to figure a way to get the large duck back to its residence, I popped it with a shotgun blast. If you raise birds like ducks you don't want owls or coyotes around to kill and eat them. Just to let people know there's another end to the owls and they do a lot of damage out there.

I had a mice infestation a year ago in a duplex I used to live in and one night after hearing mice move around around in the walls for about the 30th straight day I heard a "hoot hoot hoot" right outside my bedroom window very late at night. Never heard the mice again after that. Problem completely solved by an owl. So I love owls and they are great to have around if you don't want mice infestations.

You are a HUGE AHOLE for doing that. They live in the wild and its not always pretty but they do what they do to survive just as YOU would do! Would you starve to death or would you attack something and eat it? Hunters kill animals all the time for no reason, for a thrill. What's their excuse, idiot?

If you watch these nest videos you will see just what their function is... They eat a crap load of rodents and them killing other birds helps keep those populations down. Owls aren't typically in adundance in most areas so their function is pretty important.
