Great Gable // The Lake District

Suffering from dried and cracked lips from the outset due to too much time outdoors (yeah, like that's a thing!) I decided it was about time I went back up Great Gable as it's been a while. But this time from Honister Pass and via Grey Knotts, Brandreth and Green Gable.
Thinking I had stacks of time at sunrise I ambled across the beautiful bleak landscape towards Great Gable and then over to Fleetwith Pike where I wanted to wait for sunset. However, the clock changes the week before meant that daylight began to run out very quickly; forcing me to run to Fleetwith Pike to get there before golden hour. But I got there, and sunset did not disappoint!
This area is by far the most beautiful and dramatic in the Lake District; a real feast for the senses and this route is highly recommended.

Then back to Langdale!! Was absolutely shattered! Felt ill, sat in my car till midnight nibbling a Mars Bar, couldn’t even face a pint!! Next day we did Jacks Rake!!

What a beautiful hiking tour. I never knew about this beautiful region. The views and colours and terrain are amazing! You have to watch your step for sure. I don't know how horses would have liked the rocky terrain but at least their hooves were warm. That was a great story. Not an easy life for that man (or his horses). I cannot believe you wouldn't have packed a lunch - plus you had to run back and fetch your camera after some of the shots so you worked up an appetite. I really love your toque! If this was filmed in November, the weather is nice! Thank you so much Black Crag. I enjoyed this so much. It is such a beautiful country. Happy trails.🌍🗻🏞☀😊

I really like the views of the countryside, and the way you move the camera.. . .Some people swing the camera enough to make one dizzy.. . Thankyou for posting. I have had some experience being lost in the woods. . . Your major error at the end was that you are walking down a gravel road and then you are back in the woods. . . That is when I realized it was all a spoof. . . Just so you know for next time !!!

Hi.mate What mapping app or site do you use? The 3D one and can it be put into GPX file?

Also was going to ask you Glenn, any plans for the purchase of the Mavic 3? I know you said you'd looked at the FPV and didn't want to buy into it which is fairenough. I think FPV has its place but maybe not suit what you do. With the arrival of Mavic 3 is it time to upgrade?

I tried to imagine I lived close by and this were my home, but I still can not find much liking for this desolate landscape. It is the "after" of volcanic destruction and earthquakes; what's there to like? I am speaking for myself of course. I know others feel deep love for this country and maybe it is like with certain children....only their mother can love them. :)

Thanks for watching 😊. It is indeed the connection to the land that makes us love this place 😍
