Grease 2 is a 1982 American musical romantic comedy film and the sequel to the 1978 film Grease, adapted from the 1971 musical of the same name by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. Originally titled More Grease, the film was produced by Allan Carr and Robert Stigwood, and directed and choreographed by Patricia Birch, who choreographed the original stage production and prior film. The plot returns to Rydell High School two years after the original film's graduation, with a largely new cast, led by Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfeiffer in her first starring role.
The film was released in United States theaters on June 11, 1982, and grossed $15 million against a production budget of $11 million, a far cry from its predecessor's $132 million domestic box office. Despite breakout roles for Pfeiffer, Adrian Zmed, and Christopher McDonald, the film received mostly negative reviews from critics. Despite this, Grease 2 maintains a devoted fan base decades after its release.
Scenes at Rydell High School were filmed at Excelsior High School, a recently closed high school in Norwalk, California. Filming took place throughout a 58-day shooting schedule during the autumn of 1981. According to director Birch, the script was still incomplete when filming commenced. Sequences that were filmed but cut during post-production include scenes in which Frenchy helps Michael become a motorcycle rider, and a sequence at the end of the film showing Michael and Stephanie flying off into the sky on a motorcycle

Lorna Luft has talked about Grease 2 being sort of a cult favorite, and she is proud of it. I love that!
The Bowl-A-Rama exterior was right across the street from my house. I watched them film part of “Who’s That Guy”. You were slightly off on where things are now. The Starbucks was a Shell gas station then. The burger stand (Taco Joes) was a little farther down. At the time, I also went to school right across the street from Excelsior. I didn’t get to watch any of those scenes being filmed, but I do remember when the buses were lined up on the street (filming the opening number, but I couldn’t see it because of the buses). I also saw the setup for the luau, but didn’t see any of the filming. I loved this video. I didn’t realize how many other scenes were filmed so close. This was a fun watch.
Man that’s was so GREAT! I always loved this movie growing up even more than the first. So cool to see these locations in person. Great job!!!🎉🎉🎉

Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Omgsh! Thanks! Grease 2 was tastefully made. You also brought back memories that I can so laugh at now. I thought on the way to school that I can take my pink jacket and write pink ladies with a big magic marker on the back and that would work. Sure enough it didn’t and I had to wear the jacket to school until my mom got another one for me. Ugh! 😂😂
Thank you for this incredible hit of nostalgia ! Most people poo-poo this movie or ignore it altogether, but IMO it was better than the first Grease. The music was better, the characters were better, and the romance gives me chills all these years later. NO song in the first Grease could ever compare to "Reproduction" and "Cool Rider"

You should be banned from KZread for saying some dumb shit like that saying this movie is better then the 1st Grease all the songs in Grease 1 are Classics that are still listened to til this day compared to those 2 songs u mentioned I mean don't get me wrong I love Cool Rider but to say NO SONG in Grease 1 can compare to those 2 songs is absolute BULLSHIT Grease 1 is on TV every single time can't remember the last time Grease 2 was on TV and that song Reproduction sounds like it's being sung by Kermit the Frog
I directed Maxwell Caulfield in a film in 2015. He was a lovely man to collaborate with and shared a few stories with me on Grease 2.
Great job as always. Now I really feel old. This was my favorite of the Grease movies

I still blast this soundtrack in my car lol 👌👍
You go above & beyond with these Movie Locations as I have been waiting for someone to do all the Grease 2 Locations & I am so glad you are the one & you should do Filming Locations for a living!
I got all dressed up in my finest attitude to watch this. Great video! Interesting and fun. Thanks for the time and effort you put into it.
Seen this in the movie theater and i realy enjoyed this movie as a kid. It was on TV recently and it is still fun to watch and the songs are burned in my head. Thanks for showing the locations.
You surely are the best at these movie locations videos (no I didn't call you Shirley ;-). GREAT match-ups and humorous narration. When I moved to the L.A. area back in 1981, I rented a bedroom in a house that was just around the corner from that High School. Great memories, Thanks. 80s4ever. :-)
Your drone footage always takes your videos to the next level. Incredible amount of time you take to make them
Great detective work to find the actual filming location of the park scene was Griffith Park and not El Dorado Park as so many other sites have incorrectly stated. Also I never knew the Dead Man's Curve scene was filmed at the northern end of the Coyote Creek bike path which I have ridden many times. Very informative and enjoyable video.
Yes!!! Thank You for this video, Grease 2 is such a guilty pleasure! Great memories from my youth ⭐️

I’m eating pizza while watching this😋also I love grease 2, I had an obsession with it earlier this year to the point where I would put on the soundtrack in the background to do my makeup :) thank you for this video, it’s always bittersweet to retrace memories
Wow, this video was so well done. Grease 2 used to be on HBO very often when I was a kid, and Michelle Pfeiffer was one of my first crushes, so I really enjoyed watching this video. Great job.

It used to be on VH-1 four or five times a week (no joking) in early 90s. Eventually all were going to have see it since it aired so often
You did some great detective work on the locations, Kurt! My husband and I own a store here in Vegas and I waited on Adrian Zmed one day years ago (We still have the credit card slip he signed 😁). I was so shocked and excited because I watched this movie so much way back then. I played it cool though 😂, I didn’t want to look like a crazy fan 🤣.

Grease 2 is so much better than Grease. I don't understand why so many people supposedly do not like it. This was a great video. Thank you!
I grew up on the street behind the school where they rode. You did an amazing job covering all of these locations. Y ou've mastered these location videos!
Love the videos you put out! Keep them coming my friend. I look forward to everyone
That was brilliantly done ,and so thorough! Best Grease 2 locations video I’ve seen on here . Not ashamed to say that I love grease 2 and watch it whenever the mood strikes . And know all the words to all the songs ( and probably the entire script ! ❤thank you .. newly subscribed 🇬🇧
Not one of my favourite movies but close to the best filming locations video I have ever seen!
Great job Kurt!! One of my faves growing up. I knew every line by heart. You were definitely right about the park, 💯right👏. Excellent work!!
I LOVED Grease 2, because in my opinion and point of view its script, music and characters and STRONG RESEMBLANCE of actual 1980s high school life. I graduated in 1989.
I graduated on that football field early 90s. Cool video like always 👍
This is one of those movies where it’s so bad it’s good

Ya, an 80s movie..
Excelsior high school closed in 1981 but they used to have graduation ceremony at the Excelsior football stadium from different H.S I graduated there field. I went to John Glenn high school by the Norwalk ice skateing arena & the O.G taco joes was at that time I remembered ice skateing arena was fun Memories "
23:23 Both of them were on a trailer being pulled. You can confirm this by Goose's right hand which should be on the throttle. His right hand is off to flick a sig never looses speed. Also when he puts his hand back on he never gives it throttle to keep speed. One more piece is you can see the reflection of the trailer on the back side of Johnny's right mirror. But man what a great video you have!

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. You can definitely tell they are on a trailer. Ha. Thank you so much!! Thank you for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I saw Grease 2 before I saw Grease. I was so confused when I saw Grease, but then again I was about 7. I can admit, I love Grease 2. Thank you for this video. I sang Cooler Rider and always dreamed of meeting a girl like Stephanie
This was fantastic I loved every second of it, Grease 2 has always been one of my favourite movies! ❤
The burger stand replaced with a Starbucks, how fitting. I wish I was born 30 years earlier, what a great time the 50s were to be alive!
I saw Grease 2 in the theater and remember walking out of the theater with my thumbs in my pocket like Michael.

One of my favorite musicals. Think Grease 2 is a guy thing 😂 amazing video. When you were showing the fence where Near the football field. I was actually looking for comparison links. Great video! I totally respect your hard work and detail. Amazing…Brings me back to my childhood. Grease 2 was on HBO when I was a kid like twice a day.
You are the best at doing these. No comparison
Grease 2!!! The absolute greatest!!! Fantastic editing here!
Ok, I got the movie in the VCR now. Gonna watch and sing along.
This is so cool! I’m 50 and this is one of my favorites. made my day❤
When I was a kid I didn’t differentiate between bad movies and good so I liked Grease 2. I was shocked to hear how much it’s hated 😂

I lived in Lakewood when this was filmed. I bought parts at the Motorcycle salvage yard they kept that pile of painted motorcycles intact till they closed doors.
Cooooooool Rider...🤘😎 I was just watching little clips from this movie with a friend recently and he knows all the words to the songs! LOL 🤣
Thank you SO much for this ,, Loved GREASE 2
Grease 2 is a pretty good comedy. Funny for maybe all the wrong reasons. It’s a good movie to put on when you don’t want anything heavy and maybe nap a little.
One of my favorites. ❤❤❤❤❤
Dude AWESOME job!! Thank you! ✌🏼
This was an awesome video.
You are right: during the 40th Anniversary, Maxwell mentions Grifith Park for motorcycle scenes 🏍
the hardest laughing fit I ever had was in 1988 when I had a party and we all did LSD and watched this movie. Cool Rider made my sides hurt so bad I had to go to the other room to try stop laughing lol

So cool the school let you come inside and film. Its also sad that today lockers are removed from schools for safety reasons
Thank you this was nicely done and pretty well lined up
Grease 2 may not be the greatest sequel, however I still like it and it has some catchy songs in the film. I would give the movie 5/10.
Loved this!! Thank you for filming and sharing 😊
Thank you Kurt!! Loved this movie growing up in the 80's!! 👍

Fantastic job. I love how ridiculously thorough this is! The "sad" music during the Charades locations made me chuckle, which is probably because it's my least favorite song in the movie.
😆👏 I love the way You made that jump towards the end😅
I was tormented by this movie as a kid. Grease 2 came out around the same time as Annie and E.T. . My mother got me into seeing movies when I was a kid, and my younger sister loved Annie, and Grease, so we saw those movies four or five times that summer. Since I was a boy, I wanted to see E.T. I was constantly outnumbered.
This was awesome! Thank you 🙏🏾
Awesome Video Grease 2 brings back child hood VHS memories keep ‘em coming! Question for you what was the ska song at the of your video where you were re-creating your own jumps in front of Rydel high.
Hi there, I actually went to Excelsior High in I believe 1979 & moved in with my dad, but my brother who still lived in Norwalk watched a lot of Grease 2 being filmed. It WAS at excelsior high, and in the movie, nothing was hardly changed of the school from what i remember (I was only there for 1 semester). I was around 15 or so, but I did see FOOTLOOSE filmed instead in 1983 (I commented on that video).
I graduated from Marshall High, where they filmed the carnival for the original Grease
This is great Kurt. You know what’ll be an amazing filming locations movie ((from the 99’s tho)? Men at Work! I think most of it was filmed in the same area too.
Thanks for showing us these locations! Grease 2 is one of my all-time favorites! Earlier this year I went back to visit fmaily in California and I tried to check out as many as I could myself. I never realized how close I lived to these filming locations growing up in the area, I wish I had been able to check out places like the Norwalk Ice Arena before they got torn down or remodeled! It makes me sad to see how boring the interior of the school looks now, but I'm glad it's still there. Also thanks for finding out where the park scenes were more likely filmed. It makes me wonder where everyone got the information on El Dorado Park being the filming location. I also went there to try and match things up with no luck. I hope you don't mind me asking, how do you go about getting access to school filming locations? I wanted to check out the interior of Excelsior High School but wasn't sure how to get permission and didn't want to get into trouble by just walking in!
They were filming the movie when I was marching with the Norwalk All City Youth Band. They filmed at the high school while we were practicing.
Love the video. We are from the Lakewood area, so we know the area well. My wife actually went to excelsior high long ago 😁
Love grease 2

I've never seen greese 2 so I can't relate the locations, but as always you have done a fantastic job and because I love your movie locations il always watch your videos anyway regardless if I've seen the movie or not. Well done Kurt
Goose and Johnny were not riding the bikes when they saw Stephanie eating with Michael. They were being pulled by a camera truck and both bikes were attached
I'm late to this but great job! Absolutely love this. I used to watch this and the 1st one before the start of the new school year growing up. The only sad thing is the way they gutted and ruined the enterior of the school. It doesn't have any warmth or character anymore.
You do best filming locations videos
thank you for sharing
Thanks for the walk down memory lane. They shouldn’t have been allowed to alter the school. It’s on the National Registry of Pop Culture History. Ok that doesn’t exist but if it did the school should be on it 😂
Your videos are the best.
Love your work thank you man them stories are always good thanks for your hard work
I never saw this movie. I loved Grease, but always thought this was a cheap knock off not worthy of my attention. I love the ending homages with your son. Keep doing that!

Gosh it wouldn’t have hurt to at least watch it once
Damn you are good to find that park
I was able to see them film part of the scene in front of the ice rink, I was about 10, and lived a few blocks away
Very well done!
I grew up in North Long Beach and my cousin lived in Buena Park. The path we took between them Alondra Boulevard which runs along the side of Excelsior High. I remember trying to see them film the dance in front of the school but it wasn't that easy from that vantage point. The best day was a Monday morning when my uncle took me home and we passed the football field to see the entire luau scene. We also used to eat dinner at the Sizzler which was across the street from the service station where Stephanie worked. I really expected to see some errors in the video but you really did a nice job. I knew most of the locations and I thought you'd get something wrong. When you go to Griffith Park, I thought I had you. There is a section of the 605 freeway that had a neighborhood cleared out (which is now the 105 freeway I think) and it sat vacant for years. I assumed that was the location but I never took the picnic tables into account (which would not have been there as it was not for public use). Great job!
Grease is the word
Nice job.
Nice! I grew up near there. My mom went to Excelsior. They also filmed some cheesy slasher film there with Brad Pitt Cutting Class
The one that threw me off was where Dead Man's Curve was. In the movie they made it look like he jumped off the bluff to the left of the Griffith Park Observatory and what was shown to be the lights of a refinery looked like just the lights of LA from that view at night.
Mask with Cher would be a fantastic movie location video...
It's a guilty pleasure movie. I have however have a copy of the original script and they took so much out of it.
Funny because I was just thinking about this movie 2 nights ago!

Hey can you do a filming location of the movie “Foxes” starring Jodie Foster? It was filmed in downtown Los Angeles and The Valley in California I think. I love that film. ❤❤❤❤❤
