Its literally outrageous

Dipper might have shown selfishness more than a lot of characters, but it is always followed by him realizing he is wrong and making up for it. He by far has the most selfless acts of anyone in the show and gives up so much for other people. He should easily be near the top.

To be fair, I wouldn't like it if I worked for 30 years to get my brother out of the multiverse and I didn't get a thank you. You can argue that Stan picking a fight with Ford when the world was at steak was bad even for Stan but Ford's the one who caused him to act so violently in the first place, if he hadn't mockingly and unnecessarily corrected Stans' grammar the final episode would've been a lot shorter. All because of a petty grudge from 30 years ago no less.

Yeah and Ford deserves to be at least higher than Stan Sure he did do some selfish things in the past like trusting Bill or refusing to shut down the Portal but once he got thrown into the Portal he completely changed He devoted his entire life for one purpose and that is saving the universe Ford was angry at Stan for saving him because this could benefit Bill and giving that he was 28 years old before he entered the Portal and remained there for 30 years that is a majority of his life And after he comes out he does destroy the Portal, showing that he has changed. He also agreed to be tortured for eternity just so that Bill can't take the W

An interesting aside about that love potion: The journal 3 book (the printed one) eventually explains that if the match wasn't meant to be, the potion would eventually wear off and the pair would stop being madly in love. But if the match was true, the effects would still wear off, but the love would still be there because the feelings would be proven real. So, essentially, Mabel made a VERY lucky guess when choosing a match for Robbie.

I call bs on that Story Like they just made that to justify it because if they actually planned it they would have put this in the Episode, but they didn't. That's because they thought forcing people to love each other is perfectly fine As a Bonus here is how it could have played out Love God:There you are *picks up Mabel and Dipper with one per hand* Now give me my potion back Mabel: *disgrunted* Here Love God:Good. Why did you take it in the first place, huh? Mabel:I used another potion earlier this day to make two people fall in love with each other but this did more harm then good and I wanted to revert that Love God: *starts laughing* Dipper:Uh, what's so funny? Love God:Kids, these potions last just a few hours Mabel and Dipper:WHAT! Love God:Yeah, it is ment for matched that are ment to be together and also that way I can charge people into buying huge quantities if they aren't ment to be together with another Person Mabel:So the two people I made fall in love with are free from the potion and freely chose to still love each other Love God:Yeah and now go away and play jump rope or whatever kids these days play

In my opinion, Gideon is the worst person in the show in the way that he forces a relationship with Mabel, stalks the citizens of Gravity Falls, summons Bill, pulls many schemes to take ownership of the Mystery Shack, and does many bad things (abusing waddles, taking advantage of the town loving him, and shrinks the twins to threaten Grunkle Stan)

You forgot that Gideon redeem himself at the end, and decide that he promised he’ll never do that again and promised to be an ordinary kid

It’s nice to see stuff still coming out about gravity falls after all this time this just goes to show how great of a show this truly was/is

when he pronounced Abaconing like 'Aye-bake-own-ing' i felt rage coarsing through by veins

Dipper is not that selfish. First he defeated Gideon, the main antagonist of season 1. He also by far played the biggest role in defeating Bill as he leaded them to victory as he gave up his dreams to be convince Mabel to come with him, he turned Gideon against Bill, and was one of the leaders of the rebellion when they found the mystery shack. Pacifica, Gideon, and Robbie were all good characters by the end, but nowhere near as selfless than Dipper. Also since most of the actions of Robbie and Wendy weren’t condemned due to them being teenagers, Dipper was 12. Also most of Dippers selfish actions didn’t have much negative consequences compared to other characters. Dipper should be placed way higher.

i dont honestly think bill deserves the most selfish, i think the parents of pacifica, bill at least cared for his hench maniacs, those two just care about cash

Dipper accepting Ford's apprenticeship is not a selfish act, he's thinking about his dreams and future. That's like saying any kid that wants to go to college is being selfish. If anything, it's Mabel who was the selfish one for not only not supporting Dipper, but accusing him of abandoning her, and then trapping the whole town to make summer last forever, and guilt trip Dipper again into denying the apprenticeship by threathing to kick him out into the apocalypse nad replace him with Dippyfresh.

@@jottys3709 I know, and I agree, as much as I adore this show, it baffles me how Dipper wanting to follow his dreams and having a bit of independency is painted as being something bad and selfish for the writers, while Mabel's horrible actions are either shrugged off or painted as the right thing to do.

I love the show to bits but I can't stand how everyone makes out like mabel is a good person when she isn't. She is constantly making fun of dipper (granted that's how siblings are) and causing issues between dipper and others. Prime example: She was too scared to tell Gideon that she didn't like him, she made dipper do it. Which caused Gideon to nearly kill dipper and pledge vengeance on the whole family 😭

I don't disagree with Mabel's ranking, but I don't think the Boss Mabel and Time Traveler's Pig moments you mentioned were really her fault. With the former, she didn't think she could be a better boss for selfish reasons, she genuinely thought that being nicer to people would help get ahead in business. She even released the gremloblin out of selflessness. She considered him an employee who needed breaks. She wanted others to be happier and more satisfied with their time at the Shack, which admittedly, ultimately failed. And yes, in the latter episode there were multiple ways to get Waddles AND not hurt Wendy but Dipper wasn't agreeable to a compromise after he succeeded. He was the reason it had to be either/or because that was the "only way" (nevermind letting Mabel get Waddles first and then getting the thing for Wendy). Even the thing in Fight Fighters came from wanting Stan to not be afraid, although that was gone about the complete wrong way. Again, I do agree that both twins are rather selfish, as they are children and they don't have a great perspective of how their choices affect others, and that she's more selfish than Dipper, but I feel like the Sock Opera incident is more applicable than these. Like half of the examples used weren't selfish, they just had bad outcomes.

I know dipper has had some bad moments,but I still think he's too high,I don't see him worse as Pacifica or Stan.

@@RealSirMikay That too. But it was because Dipper was staying with Ford due to the HUGE opportunity of discovering his potential as Ford’s apprentice

I think Stan and Ford's parents should be on here. Their dad's selfishness in wanting the money Ford could have brought in made him disown Stan and made Stan want money more than anything. And their mom didn't do anything to stop Stan being kicked out. I think they could have ranked just above the Northwests because their dad did get Stan boxing lessons to make him tough and was actually impressed by Ford, and their mom showed concern for Stan's future.

I slightly disagree with this. I feel like Dipper should be ranked higher than Ford. Dipper sacrificed everything for Mable. He sacrificed his chances of dating Wendy, his apprenticeship with Ford, His job with Wendy, his perfect picture day, and more! And when Dipper almost dies due to Bill controlling his body, Dipper’s the one who apologizes! And what did Mable do for Dipper? Nothing! Sure she has some redeeming moments but they're only when she gets what she wants or very late in the show. I'm pretty sure Dipper also saved Mable’s Life from Gideon! Some do say Mable had some redemption in the books but still! These books take place later in the show! This is the main reason Mable is one of my least favorite characters. If anything Dipper should be ranked higher than Pacifica at least! “But Dipper barely has any character development!” You may say. Well, that's because he doesn't need any! Anything time he did something wrong (which rarely happened) He always apologized and didn't keep grudges like Ford and Stan! Dipper did everything in his power to help others around him! And Mable did donate blood and help many people in the unicorn episode. But she was only doing it to prove others wrong and have self-value. She barely cared about the people she helped. She was only doing it for self-image. The only times Mable did good things, it was for attention, self-image, and sometimes manipulation. There are many times when she guilt-trips Dipper into getting him to do what she wants because she knows he's empathetic. She knows he’ll do anything for her and she uses it with pride. Dipper needs the biggest thank you for putting up with Mable’s crap.

The only things I disagree with is the placement of dipper and the northwest’s (excluding Pacifica) dipper should have been above Stan and the north west’s should have been more selfish with bill cypher

The only thing I disagree with is how Dipper ranked so low, he would probably fit better around where Robbie is, either above or bellow him. He sacrificed a LOT For Mabel in the show, that it should make up for a lot more of his selfish actions. Mabel definitely fits where she is if not deserves to be just a little lower, not Bill Cypher level, but still pretty damn terrible. Unlike Dipper she didn’t do anything to make up for her selfish actions or even apologize once. You literally cannot find a single time in the show where she even says the word “Sorry” to him for all that she has done.

I don’t Think You Should Include the Actions In, “Bottomless Pit” & “Little Gift Shop of Horrors” Cause, The Were Just Made Up Stories! Therefore, Not Actually Done..... Except for the “Truth Teeth” Story, Which Actually Happen!

Stanley should be considered less selfish because of how he sacrifices his memories in Weirdmageddon

Ok my problems with this are soos should be 1st, Pacifica is NOT more selfless than dipper, and Wendy’s selfish movement weren’t really selfish, when she left dipper in the Mabel’s bubble episode she just wanted to hang out with her friends again after they were caught by bill

About Waddles. I'm not sure if you can count this episode giving that is was a made up story from Stan And also I say he wasn't selfish, giving that Waddles wanted to use his newly found genius to improve the world

Whg is everybody saying dipper deserves higher than Mabel? Dipper was selfish at times, he was so concerned with his problem with Wendy he caused Mabel to lose her pig, and then didn't plan to go to Halloween with Mabel because he didn't wanna seem like a "baby", he also betrayed Mabel on their birthday, and I could go on and on about the selfish things what dipper has done and why he does deserve to be lower.

Mabel Pines has guilt tripped and blackmailed Dipper Pines numerous times in their lives, Dipper even hints at this in the Time Traveler's pig episode where he talks about how Mabel won't guilt trip him this time and while he was being selfish in this episode that isn't to say Mabel is some kind of Saint either. Mabel continues to mock, belittle and make fun of her brother, not understanding how insecure he actually is and never truly apologising for her actions even when Dipper goes out of his way to change these things about himself and she never apologises for it. She was willing to let her brother remain a puppet forever when Bill took his body and proceeded to make fun of him in his puppet form and didn't even help him straight away either. She costs Dipper his job and blackmails him as well. Not mention she was willing to let Bill cause the end of the world just to let Summer last longer and while on that note, she also forces Tambrie and Robbie together which Dipper didn't have a hand I'm and tried to get her to correct her mistake. Mabel also gets over every boy she liked within seconds trying to impress another boy and she was even at one point gonna let Several Timez be like her slaves or something…
