Actually Russia would help China, as China is the second Russian gas export direction after Europe. So if Russia decides to cut the gas exports to Europe it will have to rely on the exports to China even more. Besides Russia and China seem to be very close spiritually, as they both pursue the expansion by "liberating" their neighboring countries.

@@bogdanpanchuk296 Russia would never get too chummy with China. China tried to rip off every Russian weapons they purchased. They can do a lot of posturing, but they are in no way natural allies. US is foolishly pushing them together.

There was a time when USA openly supported Pakistan and even trained Talibans of Afganistan (before 9/11 attack of course), during that time, China and Pakistan were threatening India with the nuclear strength, every time India wanted to test it's nuclear missile, USA intervened and threatened on economic boycott, during that time, it was Russia which supported India. Even during Kargil War, when no any country extended their help to India, Israel and Russia were supplying weapons to India. USA and Europe are self-centered bullies which won't move an inch if they don't see a strategic threat or long term advantage on any issue. Even during COVID, India supplied millions of vaccines for free, to which Germany said we have allowed India to be Pharmaceutical head, this indicates their white supremist ego. Europe and America's never gonna value India's contribution, so it's best India to do what's best for it's overall foreign relation. Still, I don't support war bcoz it will lead to mass killing of innocent humans, India should extend it's olive branch ( not bcoz the West wants it, but bcoz the humanity needs it)

Well, so what! India was in an alliance with the United State’s , and Europe’s mortal enemy, the Evil Empire of the Soviet Union. And opposing nuclear proliferation against the allies of the evil empire, is always a stance I’m proud to support. I do think you are right. India, can, should and will go neural. They don’t need anyone’s help, and no one should expect help from them, and no one should try to help, as they don’t need it. I personally think it’s a terrible idea, for America to allow so many Indian’s and Chinese to immigrate. It distorts and compromised political views on foreign policy.

The point I am trying to make is America should stop blackmailing other developing countries to work as per it's mindset. USA never sought peace, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is proof to it. If America wants to really prevent future chances of world war, it's first step should be having good relation with Russia and vice versa. And to respond your ideology regarding employment, USA should be grateful of those Indian talent, it's the line tweeted by Elon Musk. Indian Government should be shameful to let that brain drain happen. Sundar Pichai became Asset to google bcoz he designed Google Chrome, Google tool bar etc., USB was invented by an Indian in America. Similarly, CEO of Twitter, Adobe and former CFO of Tesla all earned their place bcoz they were better than rest. In 2008, the no. of Indian in NASA was 36%, if those scientists were in ISRO of India and the proper budget was allocated to ISRO, it would have easily been NASA's biggest competitor. There are only two concerns India has with USA, one is "acting as a bully in political and defence arena" and the other is "blackmailing nature". Keeping that aside, there are tons of similarities too, the biggest one being "democratic ideology".

India learned its lesson when it chose the US over Iran. This action resulted in India losing a strategic partnership with Iran to build a railway from Chabahar, giving it market access to Eurasia. It was a strategic mistake they will not forget because the deal to construct the railway went to its neighborly rival, China. India's leaders are learning to think critically and think for the interest of the Indian people, not America.

Allying with America for basically any country is possibly the best strategic decision a country can make because you basically completely insulate yourself from the possibility of a foreign invasion, if your country is small enough this move basically allows you to forget about having a foreign policy and focus on economy, there is a reason after all why most EU countries spend so little on their militaries, or why Japan can afford to be a pacifist nation. I dont think this decision is zero sum, India is in the favourable situation where basically all countries bar Pakistan and China are seeking to be its friend, that includes both Iran and the US, India building a rail line to Iran would not spook the Americans to such an extent that they would antagonise India the only thing that could do such a thing would be outright military aggression from India or perhaps exporting weapons grade uranium to Iran.

Not really we choose America over Iran because of cheap fuel and greater quality of crude oil but all went south after Joe Biden shut them down.

Time upon time... The west has shown its unreliability and hostility towards India whenever India faced conflicts and wars. Hell, the Nato carrier groups trying to attack India to save Pakistan in 1971 isn't a faded memory, Nor their refusal of selling us munitions during 1962 and 1965 wars. Soviet (now Russia) has proven itself a valuable ally many times. We might be all "sweet" with the west, but our leaders know which Nations are more reliable to us. After 1971 defeat of Pakistan,since Pakistan was ally of USA the US president asked China to attack India on the other hand NATO sent it's battle ships to destroy India. At that time there was no hope and at such time USSR came as a guardian angel to save us by sending nuclear ships and checkmating NATO members and sending army in Chinese borders in case if they attacked India USSR would attack China then. If not them them South Asia would had turned like Middleast today.

If possible India should try and get Russia and Ukraine to sit on a negotiating table and talk our their fears...Both sides reach out and settle this amongst themselves...and leave the entire world aside....Each country should get their own way to lead their country... And peace be on all.

Modi won’t get involved. Russians and Indians have always been brothers & it’ll stay that way, but this is a NATO/US and Russian matter that in the end, I don’t think will be any war or conflict

As an european i can say that most of us agree in that we get to close to russian borders if Ukraine etc gets accepted into nato, but thats really not the point, people forget that nato is pretty much just a declaration of allegiance "one for all, all for one" so a defense alliance, not attack alliance we NEVER attack first. Further more, Russia is demanding that border countries to Russia, can never join ANY kind of defense alliances. Now when did Russia get the power to demand stuff from other countries? is Russia more important than them? Do they count lesser as people and countries than Russia?

Both sides are important to India. But Democracy needs to be protected for Freedom of Individual, Human Right Values and Independent Judiciary to maintain the rule of law.

Well, it sort of depends on what sort of sanctions are put in place most likely. If they are like the ones against Iran, Venezuela or North Korea India would have to make some pretty difficult choices as sanctions are also applied to groups or nations trading with such countries. If we look at the example of Venezuela, they are pretty much on a sea of oil yet, they are no longer able to produce their own gasoline. I don't know if the sanctions are designed to bite that deeply or not but those are a few examples.

That's not a dilemma but at unspoken official statement. Indians consider Russians as theirs brothers and in any case India would not go against russia

And Ukraine at that time was a part of USSR. So India can try to solve the problem peacefully and also should try unite that two nations . The Russia just watches just as any other country would do. Until and unless India specifically asks for some help to Moscow, there is no reason why it would involve Russia, or any other country for that matter. Also, its not a Chinese attack there are a few skirmishes near Galwan Valley, and it has always been the Chinese soldiers who end up getting the rough side of the stick.
