During the Covid lockdowns, my barber's income went down to practically zero. He had purchased his shop on loan, and was working hard to reach middle class. Due to the lockdown and no income, he was starting to fall behind on EMI payments for his shop. I helped him for two years. Others did too. Incidentally, none of us ever give a single paisa to the big NGOs.

Good thing. Your aid reached the needy directly without via media. I am often tempted to donate seeing appeals from various agencies like help india, unicef children fund old age homes, save india. If this is how the aid agencies function better not donate to them. Instead it is better to reach out the needy and help them directly.

I'm so glad Palki discussed this, as it's something I've considered when trying to decide whether to donate money from my very limited finances. I turned skeptical after reading a story about the WWF, created by Prince Phillip to help animals in the wild. The exorbitant costs involved in WWF's administration far outweighed the money going to actually help animals. Let's be honest...if there's a way to rob a cause or illegally use a technology, the rich and others will utilize it. It's truly a tragic loss at a time when so many in so many places are suffering, and the very people that gain the most from that suffering find a myriad of ways to continue doing so.

Girl! Your good! This report is very enlightening and confirm what I’ve been telling people years. I’m American in America and know that a lot of our government officials are making sure the organizations they favor to vote for them get the contract to spend the aid money. What a shame, Almighty God in Heaven we ask a pray that you pay them a visit for their wicked deeds.

India has experienced this problem in the decades of 1960s when the food shortage was chronic. Aid giving countries gave india what they didn’t need, and took from india exactly what they wanted. It is naive to expect charity from countries which are accustomed to exploiting the other countries. You could also have evaluated India ‘s record, since India has also been giving considerable humanitarian aid in the region.

Rajiv Gandhi when new to politics mentioned that only 15% reaches the needed people. I will share my experience. Every month I used to donate to CRY but this long back 80s or 90s period. Somewhere I read the person heading the project was drawing 20L salary. The person is having a good social background and not at all short of money. My view was that it should be voluntary helping children. Hence I stopped donating. Now whatever help I do is in my area. This gives me satisfaction that full help is received by the needed person.

In 30 years of clnical and funded program work in India, I have seen that only around 20-24% of the fund or fund derived materials and relief reaches the intended recipients. So I quit that kind of work and took up direct action or what I could do personally. I lost the war against venality masquerading as AID programs. Please keep up your good work.

I’ve always been extremely skeptical of foreign ‘aid’, as I worked in several countries around Australia. Even more, few times, during business class travel (I work for a private company) I overheard old and decrepit white ladies around me loudly talking to the flight attendants and very proudly boasting how they work for foreign aid organisations , and going to poor countries to check on how aid is distributed! The incredible hypocrisy is breathtaking, when those business class tickets are most likely more expensive than the direct aid being distributed to entire villages in poorer countries in one year!

I recently got a call from a UNICEF intern for donations. UNICEF has trained their interns to guide the people to the payments page and make them feel guilty if they don't subscribe to monthly payment obligations. Thankfully, I had the courage to say this to the intern very kindly: We as taxpayers already contribute about 30% of our income directly, and a huge part of our income indirectly. We are already doing service to the society. Why is UNICEF not going to corporates for CSR funding? Why are we as taxpayers made to feel guilty about not paying more? Thanks to this video, I will add this point the next time I get such a call. When the aid does not reach the intended beneficiaries, why are we paying it? For the farce of Syrian war being called a 'Crisis' for years, and Ukrainian crisis being called a 'war' according to the Western discourse? Nope. Not happening.
