Gravitas Plus: The untold truth about Humanitarian Aid
Where does aid money really go? Does it even reach the intended recipients or does it get lost in distribution? Palki Sharma deconstructs some figures to explain how humanitarian aid has become a bit of a farce.

During the Covid lockdowns, my barber's income went down to practically zero. He had purchased his shop on loan, and was working hard to reach middle class. Due to the lockdown and no income, he was starting to fall behind on EMI payments for his shop. I helped him for two years. Others did too. Good thing. Your aid reached the needy directly without via media. I am often tempted to donate seeing appeals from various agencies like help india, unicef children fund old age homes, save india. If this is how the aid agencies function better not donate to them. Instead it is better to reach out the needy and help them directly.

I'm so glad Palki discussed this, as it's something I've considered when trying to decide whether to donate money from my very limited finances. I turned skeptical after reading a story about the WWF, created by Prince Phillip to help animals in the wild. The exorbitant costs involved in WWF's administration far outweighed the money going to actually help animals. Let's be honest...if there's a way to rob a cause or illegally use a technology, the rich and others will utilize it. It's truly a tragic loss at a time when so many in so many places are suffering, and the very people that gain the most from that suffering find a myriad of ways to continue doing so.

What a shame, Almighty God in Heaven we ask a pray that you pay them a visit for their wicked deeds.
India has experienced this problem in the decades of 1960s when the food shortage was chronic. Aid giving countries gave india what they didn’t need, and took from india exactly what they wanted. It is naive to expect charity from countries which are accustomed to exploiting the other countries. You could also have evaluated India ‘s record, since India has also been giving considerable humanitarian aid in the region.

Somewhere I read the person heading the project was drawing 20L salary. The person is having a good social background and not at all short of money. My view was that it should be voluntary helping children. Hence I stopped donating. Now whatever help I do is in my area. This gives me satisfaction that full help is received by the needed person.

Even more, few times, during business class travel (I work for a private company) I overheard old and decrepit white ladies around me loudly talking to the flight attendants and very proudly boasting how they work for foreign aid organisations , and going to poor countries to check on how aid is distributed! The incredible hypocrisy is breathtaking, when those business class tickets are most likely more expensive than the direct aid being distributed to entire villages in poorer countries in one year!

So few news outlets report honestly but this one seems to do their homework on issues big and very big issues and keeps its audience well informed👍👍👍
Your arguments are very substantial and with data backed by authentic sources. There is no sensationalization in this video but just stating facts logically can be so impactful. Thank you for stating this in media. We need such journalism from Global south and It seems people like you can bear the torch. Keep it up
Aid business is a BIG business. The money you donate just ends up in the pockets of the NGO's.
Ever since I witnessed what never happen to the struggling Haitians I've only donated to the War Amps. Money from my hand directly into the hands of the homeless. Hospitals selling tickets to raise money are looking more like lotteries, happening for years & still no cure,s, God forbid they announced a cure, the last thing big pharma wants.
Palki. is my favourite reporter 👍 She is the real reporter 😍👍👍👍

Watching from New Zealand, I love every informations you share. I'm learning from you.
This is the reason i do not donate online or to any organization, it is always better to help in real time to someone in need in your own locality
Dear palki, I watch the news on 12 different platforms but yours is definitely the most balanced and informative of all. I'm greatfull that at list we have one news channel that gives us the real story.🙏
Any benefits to the poor is incidental... Very powerful words... 🙏

This is so shocking I wish everyone can see this
10 cents on the dollar goes to the intended recipients. This happens so often in the charitable assistance racket.

Yes, Aids are a business model. A topic every individual must understand. Hats off Palki Sharma.
What an excellent huge, valid and truth corruptions reporting and Crystal clear delivery of PALKI NIGHTINGALE.
WION you’re doing a great job for us Africans - Panafricans
I recommend everyone read ‘Manufacturing Urgency’ the book that blows the lid off the entire international development industry. This is excellent and provocative reporting. I say this as a board member and former Rotarian (who still believes in the model of micro-entrepreneurship support as a vehicle for internal development). Thank you!
Palki you are a star, full reporting without fear or favor
Thanks, Palki for exposing these scams.
This is exactly happening in South Sudan. We have more than 200 organizations and the citizens are still dying of mere malaria disease. Where is the money going?
I absolutely love and appreciate your direct, un-sugar coated bluntness at calling out government and corporate -- bullshit. Please keep it up! I recommend your channel to others because of it. Thank you. Be well, keep on doing.
Thank you for this very beautiful piece of news that the U,S media don't want it to hear about, very well done.
This subject really need biggest attention
I have often wondered about this myself. I know sometimes the contributions are stalwarted by the enemy. We need to be sure that the aid gets to the people who need it.

It's not easy, the poor are just a conduit for milking sympathy donations from the donors in the West.
I recently got a call from a UNICEF intern for donations. UNICEF has trained their interns to guide the people to the payments page and make them feel guilty if they don't subscribe to monthly payment obligations. Thankfully, I had the courage to say this to the intern very kindly: We as taxpayers already contribute about 30% of our income directly, and a huge part of our income indirectly. We are already doing service to the society. Why is UNICEF not going to corporates for CSR funding? Why are we as taxpayers made to feel guilty about not paying more? Thanks to this video, I will add this point the next time I get such a call. When the aid does not reach the intended beneficiaries, why are we paying it? For the farce of Syrian war being called a 'Crisis' for years, and Ukrainian crisis being called a 'war' according to the Western discourse? Nope. Not happening.
I am devastated by this sad news about aid.
You are an excellent analyst. This is frightening, , good we have people like you enlightening people
