The result? Reagan destroyed the power of the Unions that gave a greenlight to employers and higher ups to abuse their workers and destroy their protective unions.

What families and friends don't see is the depression and anxiety an individual endures daily working in an environment that values fakeness, arse licking and back stabbing tossers. Having managers that value loud mouths and overlook the silent hard workers is a tragedy that only the suffering see.

Unfortunately we are living in the broken system, where most of as are working as employees, therefore we are Wage Slaves. We are working really hard and treated badly because we are dependent on out wages to pay our bills. If we were not dependent on those wages, we would not allow employers to treat us like slaves. The morning when I woke up and realised that I need not go to work where I was the previous day, was the best day of my life. That particular phase of my life tarnished everything I gathered growing up in terms of positivity, efficiency, calmness, and even being sober. I have put that in the past and gain myself back. Whoever is in such environment, trust me! You are much more worthy than your boss or manager tells and you will find a better place to work, unlike what your peers and superiors say. You are the front and center of your life and make sure you take good care of your brain.

I have been working in a toxic environment for 8 years. Unfortunately in most developing countries we don’t have alternative places to get employment. My major challenge was always being belittled and manipulated. In organizations with projects, the offices turn into political battle grounds mixed with fights to manage funds on projects. Mistreatment of people, greed and blaming of juniors for all mistakes and losses becomes the order of the day. Toxicity is real and worse than a pandemic.

I remember breaking down at work a couple of times because of being accused of doing some thing I didn't in front of my colleagues. I became so anxious and I dreaded going for work, I started questioning my sanity coz I felt like I was imagining things sometimes and it wasn't just at work, she tried to extend her presence to my home, she would call me after work hour and on weekends to shout at me for one thing or the other which would ruin my only peaceful moments. I still dont understand why some people are like that.

Its like negativity is carried forward to another person rather than ending and this keeping on going this create a toxic work environment. In your case deliberately trying to undermine you its better to leave such place and starting searching for a better place.

This is so true and I am so happy this gets addressed. I am 31 now and I never, really never worked in an office that did not have this toxic work culture. From being left with no guidance because no one wants to train the next possible competition, to being put down for putting in too much work and therefor causing trouble for the company because mistakes superior workers did where made more visible because of that, to now being stuck in a place where asking for my employment contract with the right date, because after signing the first one, the bosses asked me to start work one month earlier and so I never got the correct start date in my contract, is now seen as me distrusting the company and I got called in for a serious talk and get daily calls about how even small things I do are wrong. I am working full time while still finishing my master thesis. I have two Bachelor degrees, will soon finish my Master and worked non stop next to school and university. I really just don't have the energy to search for a new job now before being done with my thesis but honestly, more then all the work this toxic environment is stressing me out so much. My career just begins and I already lost all interest in working.

Competition and the desire to compete can create this "All about Me" Mentality. The Boss should be a leader, not just a manager. Many managers do not want anyone else taking credit. So if you have an idea, they may claim it as theirs. Society is is not being taught to be ethical or moral. Everyone does what they want and lacks the ability to put others first. If they do possess good morals and ethics, those who don't try very hard to run you over. Love, respect, truthfulness, kindness.. Start in the home by example, but that still does not guarantee that those who were raised that way will live that way. Schools have a big influence on our children. The ideas, and beliefs of others (children and adults) can have a strong influence on what the child winds up accepting as true or false. After all, the child is with the school for 6 to 8 hours a day. Many one parent homes may not have the ability to shape the thoughts like a 2 patent home. Many 2 parent homes have nannies and babysitters because both parents are working. Children are in Daycare all day. Parents in the home may not be mentally available due to abuse or drama etc. We live in difficult times. Best wishes to us all!

I spent the first 5 years of my career working in a French company at Bangalore where the salary used to be much lesser than the Bangalore average. Now another 5 years later, most people who spent some time in that company (myself included) consider those days as the best days of our careers. There was full job satisfaction caused mainly due to high quality of the work, maximum collaboration and almost zero competition. People used to remember about pay package dissatisfaction only during the appraisal season and in no other time. I saw that people ignored pay packages when they got a great work environment.

A close friend of mine developed leukemia. His boss mounted a campaign of harassment to force him to leave the job. My friend described going to HR to complain about management as going to Gestapo to complain about Nazis. In the US, there is the great resignation wave largely attributed to people fed up of working for petty tyrants and finding out they don't have to put up with it. We need to nurture and inculcate entrepreneurship from the get-go as more and more people realize that a career is a scam to keep us docile under the thumb of a dull tyrant and away from ever realizing our true potential.

It is normal in India to get abused by managers. You will work day and night even on weekends but your work will be counted in managers account and you will be abused only and given false hope. We blame attrition rate is high but ask to HR of that company if they tried to stop by promising good pay. Here in India HR takes everything on their ego and they will pay double to new resource but not try to stop you for going to other organisations. Companies will ask you to work on new technologies but will never think of paying as per that. IT looks a lucrative job but only employees knows here how much you learn and study on weekends. Even Saturday Sunday's goes like learning new things but if you are not good in playing politics at job place then you have to switch the job only to match the pay as per your skills.

I have worked in a foreign bank for 25 years and during my last stint with the bank i was mistreated & humiliated by my boss and the team members, junior staff were belittled & underserving staff got promotions & huge pay check. The mental harrassment literally pushed me to resign. It felt asthough they were trying all possible ways to make me quit forecfully. Neither did HR bother to respect me or hear me out.. malicious colleagues who would back stab us considering they were the hot favourites & belonged to the inner circle of the head of the team. Work life balance was zero as the Manager would harrass us after office hours as well over the weekend. HR has always been a big joke. There was no recognition whatsoever and no respect considering my seniority. I was just a number for them, not willing to compromise on my health for facing so much stress & humiliation & quit my job. This toxic workplace so called reputed foreign bank has shattered my will to work again. Thanks for bring this up & sharing this video.

This things happens everywhere, that’s the reality of life. The only difference is that the level of toxicity can be lower and manageable or higher and impossible to survive. We live in an century where for CEO’s it’s all about the money and put a lot of pressures on management to ask the impossible from the employees. Never forget that management it’s trained into the CEO policy. The toxicity comes from top to the bottom... When you can’t survive better leave for your own sake. The sad reality is that the CEO will never change, the only thing that will change it’s their demand for more money and that means more toxicity

I am just wondering whether there is a place devoid of all this or atleast has the least of this stuff.
