They're paying taxes to feed people who can't feed themselves and calling themselves a sovereign nation. Take India, the US gave them aid for twenty years, Kim young un, 8 years, and don't forget those poor African babies suffering from malnutrition. After awhile, I feel stupid feeding these ungrateful people as they keep pumping out kids they can't feed and somehow America is responsible. After twenty years of aid, I'm wondering if these babies I'd saved are doing anything useful with their lives or just pumping out more kids for me to feed.

On oil insurance: Many countries have enough wealth to start insuring tankers on their own, it is easy to get around price caps and sanctions. Unless the G7 declares they will not trade with anyone who violates sanctions, the sanctions are a paper tiger for most of the world. Russia will alter it's trading partners and focus more on trading with Asia, Africa, and South America. This may be a net benefit for Russia and China in the long term. China will have a stable flow of resources with a short supply route. Russia will be trading with a nation that does not care about human rights or political freedoms. If China executes 3 million Uyghurs, Russia won't care, they will keep trading. And if Russia nukes London or Kyiv, China won't care, they will keep trading.

Russia could just as well sell its gold elsewhere in the world. It doesn’t have to sell it to the Europeans at the London or Zurich exchanges. India's gold imports in volume terms stood at *842.28 tonnes* in April 2021 - February 2022 & contributed a large amount to the trade deficit. Russia Gold Production was reported at *300 tonnes* in Dec 2021. Given a discount from market prices, India can singlehandedly buy all of Russia's gold in the blink of an eye.
