It’s ironic, when Russia expressed their concern about NATO moving eastwards, they were told that’s ludicrous; so when China and Solomon Island looking at some sort of security pact, all the sudden it is making every western countries uncomfortable 😳 and Australia is now saying it’s making its country less safe. Australia or US don’t even border the island country. Double standards?

Australia and Ukraine are both lesser powers next to a hostile bigger power. Ukraine was right to be worried about Russia attacking and thus wishing to join nato. Australia is right to be concerned about China when they are outgunned numerically, economically, and militarily as well as becoming more aggressive. I would imagine the Mexican and Canadian governments aren’t too worried America is going to annex them anytime soon. But if they choose to increase their military capabilities that’s up to them. But if they choose/forced to be an ally/puppet of the Chinese or Russians it’s our choice to respond to their presence on the American continent. Every nation has a right to self determination. You can pick whatever side you like but you’re delusional if you can’t see the writing on the wall about autocratic states looking to pick off weaker states that aren’t in a substantial mutual defense pack

This is an election campaign attack by the ALP with little to substantiate it. The Australian government knows Solomon Islands politics and diplomacy inside out. They had RAMSI forces there for years and at great expense keeping rival groups apart, and sent in troops to restore peace in the latest riots. The Solomon islands leader is just playing off the Chinese and the Australians against each other to extract maximum cash injection into the economy (and probably into the leadership’s bank accounts). The Australians are aware of this and know far more about what is going on and how to manage it than the opposition ALP who know almost nothing about it and saw this situation as a free kick to score some points in the election campaign without having to actually know or contribute anything. The dogs bark and the election caravan moves on. It’ll be something completely different tomorrow. Meanwhile Australia and the US will be working together on a joint strategy to manage the situation which will include the establishment of a US embassy and no doubt discussions involving money and security in the Pacific. Does Sogavare really want his country to be a military target and the Guadalcanal 2.0 battleground between China and the US/Australia because that is what it will become when China bases its military there. We shall see. It depends on how much money China comes up with I suppose. By then of course Sogavare will have long since retired in comfort somewhere out of danger.

Scott Morrison was arrogant and his indifference, because he (Scott Morrison) thought the Solomon Islands Prime Minister is incapable of doing something like this. Do Scott Morrison has to take some responsibility because this happened under his watch. It's the same attitude he shows during the wild fire that destroyed a lot of lives and property.

Anderson's truck garnered national attention in September as it was funded thanks in part to a "Fueled by Fans" campaign with over 120 fans sponsoring the truck to pay for a new motor for the team.[6] Anderson would go on to finish in the Top 20 in the championship standings by only a mere point in the series for a second straight year. He also ran five Xfinity races in 2016, four for Obaika Racing and the season finale for Precision Performance Motorsports.[7]

@@item6931 First, I am not going to arm anyone/nations with weapons. Secondly, nuclear subs and nuclear armed subs are different. Usually, nuclear subs means nuclear powered submarines as they derive operational power from nuclear energy. Normal diesel-electric powered subs can carry nuclear arms and such kind of subs are not only used by US and Russia but also by few European countries, India and China. Finally, Will Chinese arm Solomon Islands with nuclear subs? I am uncertain about this because operating nuclear subs require special expertise that cannot be cultivated in a month or two.
