Ooh, wow! I never even thought about cleaning gravestones… but hey! Cool!
D2 is not soap. It has a bit in it. It’s way more than that. Bottle doesn’t say to wet the stone first.

You are correct. D2 is a biocide. It kills things like algae, moss, and lichen that can grow on the old graves. We have received training from three professional monument conservators and they all recommend wetting the historic gravestone before applying the D2.

@@leelanauhistory Wetting the stone before and during cleaning is highly recommended. It aids in the cleaning. Spraying D/2 on after cleaning continues to clean when it rains and/or moisture in the air which is what reactivates the cleaner.
