Um... no. He's playing very basic beats and fills on the drums. Which is fine cause it fits the song. He is far from insane but a good drummer nonetheless.

It actually appears to be a 20(I assume) k custom dark crash based on the zildjian font and the massive k on some other videos where the right crash has the “bite”

Current Banter that can be the case with anything. I’m just saying that that particular part is difficult. I’ve watched several covers and many are choosing to play it on the snare with alternating strokes. I was interested on how Vincent played it since I heard in the multitrack a few places where it sounded like tom hits being added with a snare/cymbal hit.

Vincent thank you for sharing brother. The metronome clicking, is that in everyones ear piece to keep y'all on such good timing through a specific channel on the sound board or just yours? I need something because I'm a Spirituality Sensitive drummer lol. When it hits me I speed up a little sometimes and want to buy whatever y'all use.

I have the same problem from time to time lol I think it’s ran through Ableton live DAW. You can put the metronome on a channel and send it to whoever wants it too I think. I hope i was able to help

So the band has a music director (md), and the md is the one basically who gives the whole band direction as to how they should approach different parts of the songs especially during spontaneous moments. The md is heard by all members of the band through the in ears each member wears

Very good drummer man.... I have played professionally 23 years and continue to play in church band as drummer at 35y.o. I have a few questions.... As I said I'm 35 y.o and was raised on the very nice old school pearl sets which had 3 toms. Big snare drum. Simple high hat. Several crashes and a splash along with a ride. Now fast forward to now and every drummer u see now plays or has there own setup handpicked by drummer to produce best possible quality right? I noticed set u were playing u only had 2 toms. A standard high hat. Single base. 2 crashes I think and what looked like 2 rides but hard to tell. My question is do u use ride symbol as a crash? I see alot of guys doing this. Also, why did u do away with a third tom? Or do u setup according to music going to be played? Lastly, what all do u mic up? Do u mic up each separate piece? I'd love to know. Thks

Drum triggers. Used to substitute the actual drum sound sometimes.

Triggers are for side-chained gates. Nothing more.

The mixing is just incredible. This is his ear mix and it sounds that good. You can imagine the finesse happening on the other mixes you hear.. They've literally tried just about every drum mic you can get and found what works for them. The drums are great at the source - always tuned well - and then mixed perfectly. You should follow some of their production people - they're top of the line people.

Yeah as said, their FOH engineer says they use the triggers to open gates, not for sample replacement. I do know that in the final mixes for their albums mixed by Sam Gibson though, there is sample augmentation.

that’s the music director. he is in the bands ears, calling chord changes, hits, etc. he was saying that to keep the band up at the end of the song so that it didn’t die out quickly.

sometimes musicians double up the bpm, but they are playing in the half of the bpm, because it's easier to understand time of the song
