A more efficient way of having you drop down the ladders, then placing pressure plates, would be to not have the slabs right when you drop down so it’s 1. Quicker when going down to finish off a kill (and risk him escaping) and 2, if he’s right behind you, he’s probably gonna notice you shifting out before you get the chance to place the plates. Just drop down, then plates, then blocks in front of it

slabs are better, the time saved from not shifting is so low and this is civ--also blocks make it so obvious so having them right behind me id rather take the chance they don't shift rather than taking the chance they are inside my body and run forward and I cant place blocks. If I cared that much about the slabs then I would just do the ladder fall that requires 6 pistons
