Grape Hyacinth (Muscari) - Trim Before Spring January 16

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Planted these late 2019 and their blooms nicely in blue spring of 2020. The foliage died back early summer and were removed. Late September, I am surprised by long grassy growths similar to those after bloom time. They are getting a bit untidy. Worse, I guess these will turn yellow like the Daylilies' late season growths. If I leave them alone, the yellow foliages will be mixed in with the flower stalks coming up in spring. While this is just my guess, I am trimming them off. If flowers show up, they will shine better with less grassy foliage around them. Basically, I cut the foliage to just shy of 2 inches. Hope for the best comes April.
