Grant Kirkhope is one of the most iconic video game music composers of all time. I got to interview him about the state of video game music, his legacy in the industry, and how he felt about the divided fan reaction to Yooka-Laylee.

Idk why I put down Yooka Laylee in 2017 ( Was going for 100% but couldn't find what I needed In level 2 so I stopped) I'm playing the game now without going 100% and having a blast ! Maybe one day I'll day 100%

What a nice man
It's a bit unfortunate that he thinks like this about Yooka Laylee's critics. Could be just a corporate answer not to piss off any of his dear coworkers and friends at Playtonic but there was no major change in the player base and collectathons aren't outdated or anything like that. YL had just obvious flaws that dragged it down. You know them. Worlds too big, tasks hit and miss, many questionable gimmicks and an overall bumpy execution.

When Kirkhope thinks a game isn't good, he says it. He said so about BK Nuts and Bolts, and was certainly not worried about his "dear coworkers or friends." So the reason he dismisses Yooka Laylee critics is because Yooka Laylee is an amazing game that is almost as good as Banjo Kazooie and less flawed than Banjo Tooie.

If all the bad stuff did not bother you, that's fine. It was amazing that they all came together again and founded Playtonic and such, yeah. And I'm still gonna play the Impossible Lair, don't worry. Also, to be clear: God bless Grant, nobody is always a 100% honest with the public eye on him or her and no one has to. That's fine.

@@Cyanne2 Because I am used to him being more... insightful about games than this. He actually is a gamer, who's actually into games. So I am pretty sure he knows better that what he said in the video. ...again, which is fine.

@@Stiv64_what he said is insightful and applies to the game. It is true that games now handhold with the minimap and showing you locations. In banjo tooie you just have to explore and see what you can find
