Grange on the Goods - Steaming the 81st Grange - 30742 Charters
Another Great Western Railway class has been recreated, having been constructed at Tyseley (and earlier in the new build process at Llangollen), the 81st Grange, GWR 4-6-0 6880 Betton Grange, is now in traffic.
The locomotives public debut was at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway for their Cotswold's Festival of Steam, and on Tuesday 28th May 2024 the locomotive took part in its first photographic charter, organised by 30742 Charters.
The locomotive was at the head of a Great Western goods rake and the train worked between Broadway, Toddington and Greet Tunnel near Winchcombe on the line to Cheltenham Racecourse.

Great video. Betton Grange looks nice, and she runs well too.
Great to see a Grange again, even if it is a new build! Also loved the sound of a goods train. Traditional sounds now seldom heard that take me back to my childhood.
Brilliant addition to UK preserved steam that filled an important gap in preservation survivors, and will hopefully show what great locos they were. Only need the County finished for a full set of GWR 4-6-0s.

"All GWR engines look the same, its boring" its called standardisation and guess what, it helped build this loco! Plus don't most people drive cars designed around standardisation?
