Mom should not have had to ask for donations. This woman lied. What her problem is is hard to tell. It's good she has to give her 5000. That makes 9000 to help the family. The truth is the woman wanted to keep the entire 20k. U see the woman had to go to her and ask for help to pay funeral. The old lady mad cause money never came out of the mom's pocket. However, i doubt folks r embarrassed to ask for donations, not today and they are not white. Meaning it is white people who don't ask for donations. They plan ahead to avoid embarrassment among people they know.

She didn’t have to pay anything. Why didn’t his mother have insurance? In that recording she explained why she didn’t like her. The judge was blinded by her tears. I would have dismissed both claims. Because if I got a 20,000 life insurance policy and I loved my grandson the way she said she did, then why not pay for the entire funeral. She still would have had about 10 grand left.

That’s what most grandparents are, they bitter usually and want to have control of the grandkids

I cried through this whole episode. In 2003, my 16 yr old brother passed away from cancer and the next day my dad went to the courthouse and told them, "My son is deceased now so, take me off child support." The same week, my mom and I had to go directly to the courthouse to show a copy of my brother's death certificate. My dad didn't help pay for my brother's tombstone or anything! In 2016, my dad passed away from cancer himself. You have to be careful how you treat God's people because I promise it will come back on you.

She was thinking like an addict. Those drugs erodes the frontal lobe in many cases. They develop scheming tendencies and a lack of empathy and conscience. If they survive their addiction, they sometime retain those tendencies they developed during their drug addiction. this is my mother and my brothers grandmother. my brother wasnt living a certain lifestyle. he didnt sell drugs, never went to prison. he took care of his two sons. he decided to go to the strip club with my cousin and a friend to celebrate fathers day and he took a bullet for something that had nothing to do with him. You got it. And I think, based on the fact that she lied about literally every point in her lawsuit, really makes me wonder if what she said about the mother was true. I don’t think it was. If the grandmother had been the main caretaker, she would have been the one organizing the funeral. Imagine the poor mother having to make that phone call, to ask this woman if she had a life insurance policy on her son. It must have been very hard and humiliating, but she wanted a decent funeral for her son. The mother was also so restrained in court- she behaved 100% appropriately. She never attacked the grandmother the way the grandmother attacked her. She’s a good woman.

I believe the judge and his team helped her out even more beyond the 5 grand s.o to the judge he does alot for some of the people going to his courtroom but alot of times it's edited out so people don't come begging him for help when they don't really need it or aren't trying there hardest

This case got me crying hard. My heart is with the defendant. God bless her and may her son Rest In Peace. The plaintiff is evil!

That last 90 secs really had me in tears

When she got to the part of seeing her son brains I burst into tears. I am so sad for her. I am praying she gets the help she needs. I pray that lady has mercy on her soul. I pray they find peace. My God

The purpose of Life Insurance is to bury the deceased. As a Funeral Director/Embalmer I have seen this waaaaay to often.... You can't miss what you never had. If he was so near & dear to Grandmother's heart, she would have paid for his home going service. No questions asked....

That plaintiff should be embarrassed that she brought herself on national tv to file a claim against a grieving mother. No parent should have to bury their child! Her deadbeat son has free room and board provided by taxpayers yet his first born's mother has to ask for donations to give him a proper homegoing. The grandmother must've been high🤦🏾‍♀️?!

My God. I cried like a baby. This hurt me to the core. 😭

She got 20,000 for his life insurance policy and only gave her $4000 she could have paid the funeral and split the rest with the mom.

I cried through this whole episode 😔 the grandma don’t have no empathy whatsoever! & if his life insurance policy was 20,000 his mom shouldn’t have to lift a finger trying to scrap up money for his funeral! DISGUSTING! Sounds to me if his mother haven’t asked she wouldn’t have helped do anything.

I think she spiked everybody's blood pressure, including judge Mathis' and mine. Really made me mad but I'm glad it had a happier ending.

$20,000 policy and you are suing her! You could've paid for the whole funeral and still had money left.

What a wicked woman, the only thing she's missing is a broom. This woman is grieving for her son, and this woman collected insurance money and had the nerve to sue this woman.

This was one of the saddest case I've ever seen on Judge Mathis 😢. I pray the mom is doing ok. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

That old woman was straight evil 👿. She had to do some trifling mess to get that death certificate in order to get that 20k dollar insurance pay off. She gonna bust HELL wide open when it’s her time to shuffle off this earth. Praying for healing for the mom🙏🏽

Yup it was doubled cause he was killed! I haven’t gotten that far in the case yet.. I forgot it happens like that.

If Judge Mathis said "let me leave you alone" oh! it's getting very personal believe that!

I just cried and cried. That poor lady's life has been devastated. She is broken and stressed out. This trauma is real. People so thirsty for money it don't matter what the relationship is. Leave that lady alone. When she spoke you heard the trauma and devastation.

The fact that she couldn’t name one thing she did to her let’s me know she sued being vindictive. And to make it worse, she had a POLICY?! This whole case was heartbreaking.

That plaintiff is foul as hell. That poor mother!

This is devastating on so many levels. I pray for healing for everyone involved.

This BROKE MY HEART!! I started crying at the end when the mother was pulling everything and proving the grandmother lied! I couldn’t imagine the pain the mother is going through. Praying for the BOTH of them!

If someone I know loses their child, I wouldn’t dare to sue them because I helped pay for the funeral. WTF let this poor woman grieve!!

Idk, call me stupid but, if she got $20,000 for the grandsons death then why is she asking for money to be paid back? That money was to be spent on the funeral costs and any other extra costs incurred due to his untimely death. The grandmother is low for taking his mother to court and lead alone 4 months after his death.

They need laws that if a funeral is has the life insurance policy has to pay the whole amount. And if there is left over money then that’s fine, but the entire funeral should be paid with the policy
