Grandparents Raising Their Grandchildren Due To Addiction ~ Aiden's Story ~ Part 1
It's been 7 years since I went and picked my grandson up out of a meth house that my son decided to take him to. He was 4 months old and this is that story. I'll NEVER regret doing what needed to be done!

Hi, I'm Missy! I'm a wife, mom and Nanny to my favorite people in the world, and this is our story of how we're raising our 6-year-old grandson on our 2-acre homestead in a tiny blip on the map in East Tennessee. We're homeschooling, gardening, cooking up a storm and canning/freezing everything I can get my hands on to fill my prepper pantries and freezers and bringing y'all with us for the adventure!
Thank y'all for watching and be sure to hit that Subscribe button! We'd love to have you be part of our journey and you don't want to miss out on any of our craziness!

Lord, you hit the nail on the head when you said being the parent of an addict is exhausting. I CAN NOT imagine adding a baby to the struggle. You have my boundless respect for fighting the fight and giving Aidan the love and life he so deserves.

It IS exhausting. Sitting in hell's waiting room. The terrifying silence is only broken by the even more terrifying sound of a ringing phone. Your grandson is so fortunate to have you.❤

God gives us grandparents the strength to keep going to raise our grandchildren even when we are tired.
I feel your pain. Im also a grandmother raising her granchildren. My daughter is currently in jail because she didnt go to drug court.

Bless your heart! I know how tough that is to deal with. I'm here if you ever need to talk 💜
I'm listening to you, shaking my head, and I'm just speechless. Have no other words, except thank god that Aiden and Joseph has a strong grandmother /mother.
Bless his little heart ❤ Thank goodness he has you! I can't imagine the lice situation on a little baby like that...can't stand those creepy crawly devils 🚫 I'll be watching for part 2
I have twin granddaughters that my son isn’t in their lives because he is lost in drugs. They live with their Mom and grandparents. I still feel obligated to send every thing I can to help out. Children are not cheap especially teenagers. I don’t care about me going without but my grandchildren will never go without because they don’t have my son supporting them ever. I don’t know what I would do or if I could raise them myself. I give you a lot of credit for taking that responsibility because many people would not do it or could not afford to do it. ❤

It was the best decision we've ever made. Has it been rough?! Oh YESSSSS! I won't lie about it. There are days where it's a lot but there are mostly those days where it's like I know it was meant to be. I'm worn out at the end of the day, ready for bed, and he comes and hugs me and tells me I'm the best nanny in the world because I take such good care of him and I love him sooooo much. That just solidifies it all.
Your story closely mimics mine. I’m so happy we both have our grandkids. They have a chance with us. I’m 76, boring as hell, multiple old age problems, and raining a 13 year old. But she’s safe, secure, fed, in school, sports, has friends and a predictable, safe home with me. We do our best…it’s good enough.

Amen to that! We have our hard days but we're doing what's needed to be done for these babies
Very sad story but one that unfortunately resonates across America. I don’t understand how a substance could make someone not understand the importance of caring for a baby and I’m 4 years clean from meth myself.
I remember when Dept of Child Services called me when my grandchildren were born. My daughter had drugs in her system so, did the babies. At first I had Kinship from the time the babies were released to go home. Later at the kids attorneys request we became foster parents. We had to attend classes and pass background checks, pass medical exams, took CPR and First Aid classes. Check list for making sure our home was safe. Every time the baby saw a doctor it was documented as well as what medication times a day at what time it was given. Fill out payroll sheet. Email Case worker, kids attorney and the agency Aid To Adopt Special Kids. All of this while working 40 hours a week. Caring for newborn and 4 other young children. Meanwhile my daughter is out running the streets care free. It is easier to do this when you young than older. No wonder we get exhausted.😂 I love my grandchildren and I wanted them to have a happy loving home. Not sure if anyone has this issue come up yet. My grandchildren asked why they don't have a normal family with a mom and dad like other kids at school or kids parties. I told them there are a lot of different kinds of families. There are kids who have Aunts , Uncles, older brothers and sisters. Grandparents like you have. We love you and make sure you have everything you need. You have sleep overs. Birthday Pizza parties, Birthday parties in the backyard with piñata, games. Sign you up for sports. Take you to practice and games sit and cheer on the sidelines. We wanted them to have a normal as much as possible childhood like other kids. We are their rock and they are our rock too.

It certainly is...the absolute worst
We have such similar stories. When my first grandson was 6 months old my daughter took him with her. Later I received a phone call from the lady who she was staying with. She told me to come get him because, she is not taking proper care of him. I went over and picked him up right away. He has been with us for 17 years. He is a straight A student. Works and manages his money. He works out. His goal is to become a fire fighter. Thank God for his blessings.

Wow! You are a true and wonderful warrior! Aiden is so very fortunate to have you. There are no words that are adequate enough to commend you for what you have done for that child. You are a force to be reckoned with and I love it!
God bless Missy. Been there, done that and all the rest! Our grandson just turned 18, still lives with us (we adopted him when he was 6) and is the sweetest soul there ever was. He has autism, is non-verbal, is six feet tall and his smiling face lights up the world no matter where he is! Just keep on keeping on. God picked the right person to give this precious child to.

Wow just those pictures (if you took them) of Baby Aiden on the floor of that home would have been enough to get custody. What a moron your son was at the time. No way would I EVER give custody back to your son, and I am hoping that his Mother has no rights by now either. God Bless. you and your husband for taking in your grand son Aiden ❤

Life is so hard some times. I’m 61 years old and I just want to be happy and have some peace of mind. You are doing a wonderful job raising Aiden. I love seeing him on the video. He always puts a smile on my face. Thank you for sharing Aidens story. My heart breaks for the both of you. Even Joseph. 🙏 I pray for all of you. God bless 🙏Much love ❤

I Thank the Good Lord for making you Aiden’s Angel here on earth….To think if you weren’t around anymore, ( to put it mildly ) or if you had suffered a terrible disability…..I’m just so grateful you were able to step up and start taking control of this disheartening situation. Thank you 🙏🏼 so much for sharing, look forward to the rest of your journey with Aiden & Joseph ….🙏🏼❤️🕊️
