Speed Run 35 (1770) - My key takeaways Game 1 1. In closed positions, identify the side on which you are going to attack and then get pieces onto squares that mean they can attack when the centre opens. Danya brings the knight around the board via f1 to bring it into play. 2. In closed positions you can make slow moves because the game isn't going to go anywhere quickly 3. Before you automatically take back, consider the other options too. Opening up the game and posing a significant threat might be better. 4. Getting a great piece can beat material advantage... Consider sacrificing a pawn (e6 here) if it means it opens up the position and allows a knight to occupy an outpost in the centre (e5) Game 2 1. Look for the outpost (here it arrived right at the start of the game) 2. When you have better placed pieces than your opponent (a lead in development) then open up the position (here with a pawn break) Both games 1-2 are amazing examples of attacking play (1) develop the pieces (2) open up the position (3) get the queen involved (4) secure mate Game 3 1. This opponent lost because of very slow development which Danya exploited brilliantly - start by developing pieces! 2. Look for weaknesses all over the board. In this game Danya combines attacks on the queen side and the centre, and breaks his opponent down whereever the weakness appears. 3. In the end game consider which pawn is going to make a passed pawn.
