Lyrics:
[Chorus]
(White Lines) Visions, dreams of passion
(Blowing through my mind) And all the while I think of you
(High price) A very strange reaction
(For us to unwind) The more I see, the more I do
(Something like a phenomenon) Baby!
(Telling your body to come along, but white lines blow away)
(Blow! Rock it! Blow!)
[Verse 1]
Ticket to ride, white line highway
Tell all your friends, they can go my way
Pay your toll, sell your soul
Pound-for-pound costs more than gold
The longer you stay, the more you pay
My white lines, go a long way
Either up your nose or through your vein
With nothing to gain except killing your brain
[Chorus]
(Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Blow!)
Higher, baby
Get higher, baby!
Get higher, baby!
And don't ever come down! (Freebase!)
Rang dang diggedy dang di-dang
Diggedy dang di-dang diggedy dang di-dang
(Pipeline) pure as the driven snow
(Connected to my mind) and now I'm having fun, baby!
(High price) it's getting kinda low
(Cause it makes you feel so nice) I need some one-on-one, baby!
(Don't let it blow your mind away) Baby!
(And go into your little hideaway ‘cause white lines blow away)
(Blow! Rock it! Blow!)
[Verse 2]
A million magic crystals, painted pure and white
A multi-million dollars almost overnight
Twice as sweet as sugar
Twice as bitter as salt
And if you get hooked, baby
It's nobody else's fault, so don't do it!
[Chorus]
(Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock! Freeze! Rock!)
(Ahhh) Higher, baby
(Ahhh) Get higher, baby!
(Ahhh) Get higher, baby!
And don't ever come down! (Freebase!)
(Don’t you get too high) don’t you get too high baby!
(Turns you on) you really turn me on and on
(Cause you gotta come down) my temperature is risin’
(When the thrill is gone) no, I don’t want you to go
[Verse 3]
A street kid gets arrested, gonna do some time
He got out three years from now just to commit more crime
A businessman is caught with 24 kilos
He’s out on bail and out of jail
And that’s the way it goes, raah!
(Cane! Sugar! Cane! Sugar! Cane!)
Athletes rejected, governors corrected
Gangsters, thugs and smugglers are thoroughly respected
The money gets divided
The women get excited
Now I’m broke and it’s no joke
It’s hard as hell to fight it, don’t buy it!
[Chorus]
Little Jack Horner sitting on the corner
With no shoes and clothes
This ain't funny, but he took his money
And sniffed it up his nose
(Hey man, you wanna cop some blow?)
(Sure, what you got, dust, flakes or rocks?)
(I got China White, Mother of Pearl, Ivory Flake, What you need?)
(Well yeah, well let me check it out man, just let me get a freeze)
(Go ahead man, stuff I got should kill ya!)
(Yeah man th-that’s that’s raw, woah..)

Such a perfect description of addiction...
Was 9 & working class, in multicultural south London in 1983 when this came out, just like classics like Chaka Khan Feel for you, Rob Base & DJ EAZY ROCK it takes two etc were tunes that got played at every gig, every birthday, wedding funeral etc… I’m not Thick ( no seriously I’m not dumb) But after hearing this song my whole life, singing along, dancing etc… I was 29 when I realised the lyrics were about drugs!!! That was how innocent we were, even though we was street wise, working class etc… And I remember sitting with my twin bro, and going “er ma gawd” (in an old school cockney accent) “this is bout coke!!!!” And him looking at me as if SAY WUT?! lol and the disbelief! 😂❤ love you Pat X

My friend and I used to get excited and sing it; we were both 12 and didn't know jack about drugs. (Her parents didn't use, and I saw my mom smoke weed and I merely preached about 'lungs turning black'.) She later told me a few of her longtime friends got into coke in the 80s, but she hated it and didn't allow it to be used in our home. It took a few years for me to realize 'White Lines' addressed one of the most devastating epidemics of the 80s. Now we have the opioid crisis. I'm a prescription-painkiller statistic. Maybe someday I'll write a song about those years in active addiction. It IS 'hard as hell to fight it'.

@@ForelliBoy as a Christian, I believe this song has a powerful message to preach against the drug culture and maybe could still be used. I liked how it told the truth of the power of addiction, the need to increase the strength of the hit, and the costs, to the family, society, career. A great track to tell the tale.

Great song from the best years of the 80 s in a 70s baby❤
Hell of a song 🎉
One of the most legendary tracks addressing one of the worst epidemics of the 80's. You can't count the amount of souls and families destroyed by getting hooked on coke and eventually crack. The same crack which was introduced to cities by the same government claiming to care about us.

@@balle733 ......I know that. Did you read my comment where I said coke and THEN crack. Also, if you listen to the song after the chorus, they yell out "Freebase!" which is crack.

My childhood............................my mum was getting crazy cause I was destroying my joggings by smurf and break dancing at school with these songs in my head... To me this sound is still so fresh and even way more impactful because I can know understand the lyrics... Big salut from France 🇫🇷 VINZ🙋♂️

Great song back in tge 80's. This had to be the theme song for cocaine bear.
Reminds me so much of my youth. We used to line up all night long at Bar 1 in my hometown of Hartford, Connecticut. Great times.
I don't remember ever seeing this on Mtv. I heard from Basquiat soundtrack. Thanks for posting.
Long life to the old skool!
This always got me on the dance floor🤣
For my friends & I in the '80's- This was an anthem not an anti-drug song. We played this when we got high!
I still love this jam all these years later
Y’all was wild back then yo. I’m 21 now and I just always try to wonder what y’all was on before I was born 😂
