    Actually: GTA III: Revenge GTA Vice City: Business GTA LCS: Mafia GTA VCS: Drugs GTA 3 is revenge because Claude is not Italian whilst Toni from LCS is and is a valued member in the Leone Family, spending the whole game helping his boss Salvatore while Claude worked for many different gangs in Liberty City to get him closer to the girl that betrayed him. As for the 2 Vice City games, yes both games have drugs and businesses but I feel like VCS has a LOT more drug related missions and Tommy spends most of Vice City trying to build up his business empire and reputation in Vice City, while Vic did a lot of missions that involved cocaine/drugs and became involved with drug kingpin gangsters despite his objection towards drugs. Yes I know empire building was in VCS too, but businesses became revolutionary in Vice City whereas we already knew about it in VCS although the ability to customize the business was cool

    The worst mission to me: S.A.M. Going all out there to the airport just for maybe 2 shots at a flying target, missing then doing it all again was infuriating. But man, GTA3 is legendary. It was so damn fun just rampaging and driving around.. GTA killed racing games for me, when I can drive around running over people and changing cars, why would I ever play a regular racing game again?

    It's worth collecting the hidden packages to get weapon and armor pick-ups at your safehouses. Completing the ambulance missions gives you a health pick-up and infinite sprint. Not sure completing this is worth it for the reward but I kinda like the challenge. Your stamina also increases the more you print. Eventually, you should get a notification saying you've maxed it out.

    I love this game, sure it's got it's flaws (No map, can't bail out of cars), but those are to be expected for the first time making a game like this. To me though, the absolute WORST part of the game? The one thing i'm glad didn't carry over? The Gang's hostility. How, As you progress through the game, the more gangs that start to hate you, the multiple gangs will outright SLAUGHTER you. It is such a pain. Especially when i was a kid. I was about 6 when i played this game. My dad always did the story missions, but i just focused on running around and exploring the city. And i remember, any time i'd go to Portland, i'd get killed like, instantly. So i avoided the area. And just to be a dick, my dad saved in Portland. And i was too scared to play anymore. lol. Actually, i also remember my first time playing. He got me and car and gave me the controller. And in 5 minutes, i already ran someone over. I was crying because i thought i really did murder someone, and my dad told me i was gonna go to jail. He even had my mom knock on the front door. (Keep in mind, as a kid i didn't get the difference between games and reality)

    Yeah, i actually got to play a lot of violent games as a youngster. Even Resident Evil, which scared me so bad (the first zombie) that i took the game and hid it. It's weird, because those things, didn't scare me as bad as they should've. Gta never really gave me nightmares, the game i was most scared of as a kid was WCW Mayhem. The intro to that game really creeped me out.

    I assume because it was a direct sequel to GTA2. Those early top down GTA’s placed a heavy emphasis on your relationship with the different gangs. You had to be strategic with who you did business with because it could mean falling out of favor with a rival gang.

Thing is, they have a counter that shows all your stats and rates your position based off of them. If you cheat all the time you get labeled "don of all liars" or something like that. It's fucking hilarious.

    i like the fact in GTA III and all the way up to GTA 4 the cars damage easily, it made you drive better or have to change car. In GTA 5 the fact u can right your car is terrible, makes it far too easy and boring.

  • @IndiBrony

    @IndiBrony

    6 жыл бұрын

    I have to agree with pow. I hate in-air controls and the ability to flip your car back over because it just means you can drive like an ass and not get punished for it. I was watching some kid play MGS on KZread a little while back and he had no clue what to do, because the game didn't hold his hand through it by giving him a radar with a destination point on it, or giving him on-screen prompts on what to do with weapons etc. It was cringe-worthy to watch. Games don't help you improve anymore because there's no challenge to them in comparison to old titles. Even GTA is guilty of it. I remember a handful of missions from the PS2 era which were absolutely rage-inducing due to their difficulty, but GTA4 and 5 have been disappointing in their lack of difficulty. I got to the end of both of these games and thought 'wow, that was it?' because I'd simply breezed through everything in a few hours.

    Great review. I just played through it all again for the first time in 19 years and I was surprised how much fun it still is, even with my modern day gaming standards. There is a gritty, grimy vibe to gta 3 that none of the other games have quite captured. The cheats are fun, too; make the NPCs all aggressive towards you and run for you life! 🏃‍♂️

    One of my favorite gaming moments in my life was when this game came out, one day I got home from school and saw my dad playing it and he said "look what I got you". I flipped out as he got me GTA 3. At the time I was 11. My parents weren't even close to strict and never cared about ratings or anything like that so they got games like these for me in that time before I would be able to buy my own games

    This game was what got me to buy a ps2 in the first place, I actually got my hands on this game before I had the console. I bought the last copy in stock at my local Kay Bee Toy Store, but had to go to another town to get my ps2 as KB was out of stock. I had to go to a new Best Buy in Union City to get my console, and I picked up Max Payne to have another game to play...oh and this was in April of 2002, when I was barely 19...

    Most people don't know this or flat out never realized this but GTA3 and Manhunt are actually connected to each other... During the final cut scene of Manhunt, the Journalist mentions the questioning of a police officer named Gary Schaffer. This is a reference to a radio bit in GTA3 where the DJ of Lips 106 mentions "police chief Gary Schaffer in nearby Carcer City" who is being indicted about some missing witnesses... Carcer City and Liberty City are basically right next to each other....

    I loved the freedom gta 3 gave me. No handholding. You had all the agency to play anyway you wanted. Didn’t tell you where to stand or how to complete missions. Didn’t force you into ppls cars or fail if you slightly go outside the bounds of what the mission wanted. Even his complaint of not knowing where to go cause the map didn’t tell you. Learning the map was part of the gameplay. Learning the city was part of the story telling. Becoming a citizen of this violent town. If you saw a dot was placed in a strange part of the map you know it for sure it must be on another island. Perfectly finding the bridges because you memorized the whole area was what it was all about. Gaming was diff back then for sure.

It was actually my brothers game... the missions were much to difficult for me to do after the introductory ones, but it sowed the seed of imagination. I would just roam the city for hours.... After this, every other video game felt so restricted & on rails. Tony Hawk was one of the only other games that gave me this sense of freedom. EVERYONE was playing either this or Vice City. Every house that had a gaming console was playing GTA! Ahhh the memories

    So I just said F-it during quarantine and decided to buy the trilogy on my PS4 Pro... Now I swear, every time I try to play GTA 3 it feels just way too dated and bad and I give it up. But that's on PC. Something about this with that same classic controller style from the original, the console, sitting in front of the TV, having all the time in the world to play and hang out... and maybe most importantly, NOT using cheats (something I never really followed through with as a kid) it's been one of the coolest experiences playing a video game I've had in awhile. There's a good deal more old school video game style stuff, which means less of Rockstar's famous invisible boundaries and conditions for auto-failing a mission. So you really can get creative and tackle many of the missions any way you want. Being older now, this has brought out a whole new side of the game that I just never really bothered to dig into when I was a middle schooler doing rampages and passing the controller to a friend on Wasted screen, and only doing the bare minimum to beat missions without taking time to explore/enjoy them. GTA is always a bit of a 'time capsule' which made this return to GTA 3 really interesting... they didn't do quite as much as future games in terms of that but there were so many late-90s nostalgia things that brought out a lot of memories. Like seeing one of those "DVD CD VHS Giant Store"like FYE was IRL, or just seeing a lot of those late 90s model cars (corvettes and diablos etc) the radio stations were awsome. Some of the music on the electronic stations almost sounds like it could be semi-current, which is pretty cool. Anyways this game gets tons of criticism now, and it's widely said to not have aged well. I can't really dispute that if there's no nostalgia attached to your playthrough, but with the nostalgia factor I have loved replayng this for some reason this time around in 2020, with the PS4 one.
