I would say the opposite: I liked him in GTA IV but not in GTA V. It made sense that he was a bit crazy in GTA IV, as his career had taken a complete nosedive, and he was willing to do anything to get it back. After doing a bunch of partying and drugs, he turned out to be a little wacked, and then combine that with desperation and you get a fuckin' weirdo. In GTA V he was just pathetic and obnoxious.

Lazlow Jones, originally aired "The Lazlow Show" on K-Rock in New York. He aired on Sirus XM as well. After "Big" Wayne Oliver (one of three hosts) passed away in 2014, Lazlow ended the show.

I'm listening to this in my car. It's more entertaining than most real talk radio out there.

@@DavidKFZ i agree with you. GTA IV is my favourite game in the franchise, by far, however the stations are not as entertaining as the ones in 3D universe. I usually keep in Radio Broker or LRR, while in older games i listen to pretty much every one. The talking radios became too "political" and less crazy, while Lazlow lost his "only-sane-person" personality that was very cool in GTA III Integrity is nothing compared to Chatterbox

Actually there was a guy in gta San Andreas who called up the talk show "I say, you say" who could've actually been Trevor. His voice is similar and he mentions he moved out of the city because it sucks and he lives in a trailer fenced in with barbed wire & shoots anyone he doesn't recognize on his land.

GTA wouldn't be what it is today without Lazlow Jones. He not only played a parody of himself across the games (be it as radio DJ or washed up entertainer) but he also wrote the story, interactions between the characters, the funny pedestrian quotes, and more. Him being a radio DJ himself makes it the reason why he wrote the dialogue for almost all of the radio stations in the game. So you not only got all the cool music to listen to, you also got the DJs saying some of the funniest quotes in gaming. All of that thanks to Lazlow. Sad to see him go after working for Rockstar Games for 20 years but I respect his decision. I wish him and his family well.

I used to park the car in the back of the lot, or back alley, put chatterBox on and eat Tacobell for about 30 minutes straight. love this talk radio, i think im gunna listen to the whole thing

MrJJtheboss Hmm, personally I find San Andreas soundtrack to be the best. The only radio stations I didn't listen to were Bounce FM and K-Jah West. The rest, I loved it all. But Vice City had a great set of tracks as well, some very memorable songs.

I wish, "Chatterbox" was in every GTA game. It kinda gives you a better idea of the society within the game. Like the running joke about a cruise, the drug spank, and the Australian/American war. Also it gives a satirical look at our own society. Like our craze for reality tv, pharmaceutical products and large cars.

Some of these skits aged REALLY well

GTA 3 still has my favorite talk radio station of any GTA. Lazlow and his combination of insane guests (and commercials) is just perfect for my sense of humor, lol. Fernando is a favorite, and I'm glad they brought him back in Vice City and other games (that wannabe man-whore is just TOO hilarious.)

yeah man, I'm replaying this game and it's crazy how relevant all of it is. playing this game for the first time in 2000s in eastern european 3rd worldish belarus, none of those things they discuss were really on my radar. it's surreal thinking of what my world was back then and realising how little things really change despite how much it seems they did. so much is about perspective and your place in the world.

Danish Corr If you listen he states that some of them have messages attached to their legs and says it's like fortune cookies. Further into the radio station (if you listen here) you'll hear some kind of activist group that's against technology ala phones/cell phones and states they get in touch with their members by using carrier pigeons, but state that they keep ending up lost. Which then tells us the hobo is catching and eating the group's pigeons xD It's just a bit of dry humor, even british in nature (setting up the joke and the punchline coming way down the line instead of immediately) .

I remember many real life days, as a kid, just driving around randomly all around Liberty City, seeking quiet idyllic spots to (RP) chill and listening to Chatterbox (as well as that 80’s station). Something so random as a fictional psychotic radio show can be so extremely nostalgic. 😁

Still listen to this on long drives. Genius

I remember stealing a car just to drive around and listen to the radio. The graphics, the silent protagonist of the game, the cheat codes...man those were the days ❤

I love how the host tries to joke and have fun with callers but they immediately get defensive and attack him 😂

Holy freaking shit. I just discovered something I've never noticed in the 20 years I've revisited this game. 46:55 "Another Paranoid Caller" while the guy is going on about government control, the NSA, and the artificial manufacturing of a "Boogeyman" to fit whatever agenda any administration currently has was referencing lots of FBI cases going on at the time having to do with freedom of information. Lazlo then says "Uh, okay, do you have anything else to add?" and the guy on the phone goes "Yeah I do: FREE KEVIN!" and my jaw dropped.... Kevin Mitnick (who just passed away a month ago) successfully pioneered information technology and hacking/cracking. When he was arrested in the late 90's, people were calling radio stations across the United States, trolling the station with a bit of satire, and shouting FREE KEVIN before hanging up. When people ask "Why do you enjoy video games," I think of shit like this.

I hate what they did with Lazlow in the later games. I preferred him in this and San Andreas where he seemed more sensible and witty.

Man...I get such a strong feeling of nostalgia when I listen to this. And on a side note, listen to what the guy says @47:10 about the N.S.A, and how the government comes up with ways to try to scare us so they can violate more of our rights. He was the first N.S.A whistleblower. Keep in mind that this game was released in October 2001, like a month after 9/11.

Global Critic Technically, this is from the 3D universe and not the HD universe, so this is a different Lazlow from the GTA V one.

The 3D and HD universe are in the same GTA multiverse. Lazlow may still be the same person but he's personality might have changed due to different life experiences. Alternatively, don't forget that he is 10 years older in GTA V. It's probably the message that Los Angeles fucks people's minds up.
