Grand Seiko USA Four Seasons First Impressions | Carat & Co.

A complete introduction to Grand Seiko USA Seasons collection available at Carat & Co. We go hands-on with the Spring SBGA413, Winter SBGA415, Fall SBGH273 and Summer SBGH271.
Grand Seiko pays tribute to the Nature of Time and Japan's Twenty-Four Seasons with new timepieces in its Heritage Collection. Each season utilizes the iconic 62GS case to celebrate Four of the Twenty-Four Sekki as we know as Summer "Rikka" , Fall "Shubun" , Winter "Taisetsu" and Spring "Shunbun". The four models feature the two peaks of Grand Seiko's movements - two Hi-Beat calibers and two Spring Drive calibers. We also go into the differences between the materials, seasons and the movements.

The green on gold 'Summer' one, is absolutely stunning. I agree it could be the best and the look is very unique, however my vote still goes to the blue 'Autumn' one. I think the green has too much contrasting text color on it, yellow then white then maroon? Whereas the blue is slightly less clashing and overall a bit more refined looking, if that makes sense?

thanks for the detailed video, great presentation. One thing that I find is not talked about in all reviews of these is the Boxed Sapphire crystal! To me, this with the Case is what makes it so special (and the dials). Not that many models from Grand Seiko have the boxed sapphire crystal and boy do I love that look. In the video, it looks like the Spring Drives have the boxed crystal a little more pronounced/higher versus de High Beats, can you confirm this? Is it because the HighBeats are just thicker so in order to keep the same overall thickness spec, they had to make the crystal shorter? Thanks

Good presentation on the 4 pieces of arts. GS makes very nice cases, like this 62GS. I also collect GS, a dozen of the modern ones, and a dozen of the vintage (including KS). The latest being the sbgk005, sbgy003, and, the vintage 5646 5010. The 9S63 is a better caliber than the patek small second. The 9R31, with the dual mainspring in a barrel architecture, is an improvement to the 7R14 used in eichii II. Not only the finishing, but, the decoration is just as impressive, unpretentious, free, like the night sky. Hope this latest innovation is repeated on the 9S next year. And, yes, in affordable steel. Interesting time ahead for GS fans.

Hey Canon, thanks so much for watching the video! I'm totally in love with the new SBGY003, I've been telling many people on Instagram that its like getting an Eichi II design but in stainless steel, maybe it is not as decorated with the kikyo flower as the barrel, but still very few pieces can compare to the SBGY003 at its value. I agree that it is an interesting time for GS fans and hope to see more innovations come to future GS product :) Happy to hear that you're enjoying GS's new manual winds. Titanium as a material isn't that well suited for small screws compared to steel. (I could go on about the material science, but won't.) Also, pin & collar is technically a better, more secure joining technique. Although extremely rare, screws can come off with time. They're just advertised as more premium because they are harder to manufacture and they "look and feel" better to interact with. (Like many things in the watch industry ;) ) Only real world advantage is they make it easier to size the bracelet.

Thanks so much for watching Eugene! I purchased this Double Breasted suit from a nice store in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan called "The Suit Company". I don't think they ship overseas, but I purchased it off the rack and only had minor adjustments. Its one of my favorite suits and like Grand Seiko, I really love Japanese craftsmanship.

@@MinuteMon Awesome - I'm half Japanese and very familiar with Ginza. Such a cool and ritzy part of Tokyo for sure. Next time I visit, I'll definitely have a look. Thanks again!

I might have had a similar reaction if I didn't notice that the 21mm lug width actually tapers down the bracelet to the clasp! Its very subtle, but a nice touch.

Hey @@jerrya8621! The lug width for the new Seasons collection is 21mm, we've measured it ourselves. The nice thing is that the bracelet tapers to 19mm from the case lug down to the buckle. If you're in the area, we'd be happy to show you!
