Little correction here... The Ryman Auditorium is a historical concert hall dating back to 1892. It was never the Grand Ole Opry. The Opry was just a tenant of the Ryman for that period of time, meaning they only so much as used the Ryman facility.

In 1963, National Life insurance purchased the Ryman Auditorium and they did in fact officially rename the building to the Grand Old Opry House. When the Opry moved to the new Opry House in 1974 the name reverted back to The Ryman.

The Ryman Auditorium was never intended to be a concert hall it was a church and that's what it was built for

Just as confused, this is one of the videos listed that I have to write a summary about in my Music Appreciation class, and only half of it is there.
