I love the tracking vehicles from 2010 and 2018 because it tracks the horses down towards bechers and the canal turn

I feel like the steeplechase is the most dangerous horse riding sport....there is an equal chance of the rider and horse getting injured really bad....but I guess it would be a thrill of a lifetime for them.

The Fossa, i can remember him, it seemed he was in all the nationals in tthe late 60s to early 70s.

I love the alternate version of the grand nationals from the 1990s

Seemed to take an age for Andy Pandy to fall at second Bechers in 1977,, similar with Uncle Merlin in 1990...

You can't force a horse to jump so if they pull up the jockey gets thrown forwards. Like going over the handlebars of a bike when you brake too hard.

I've noticed that in recent years the fences have been reduced in size - should have been done ages ago - this is a very dangerous horse race not only for the jockeys but also for the horses!!

Does anyone know if the 2007 & 2008 Grand Nationals are online anywhere? I think I've got versions (some of them not great) from 1960-date apart from those. I've found one with some Spanish commentary but apart from that, nothing.

.....difficult to find these BBC Nationals.....I have 1960-2005 and 2012 but cant find 2006 to 2011.....apart from Racing UK coverage...

....I would have laid odds-on that Red Rum would have won this montage....with Crisp a very close second....

No favourites here. Clips were chosen for visual clarity, incident and commentary flow as much as possible. No high-tech editing software, just record/pause, so not perfect by any means.

Great to see action packed incidents. I don't think we are allowed to admit that these days. I don't wish to see injury, but the spectacle of falls and mayhem sure makes it both exciting and enjoyable to watch. Thankyou

One thong for sure red rum will never be equaled 3 wins 2 seconds and it was tougher then as well

I reckon it'd be more fun getting the jockeys to start them off and then leap off at the first furlong and let them all run riderless. The horses would probably enjoy it more, too.

.....the Health and Safety police at aintree would have a fit if this was an actual national run now...btw...Bechers first time...what year was this?

Bechers Brook, 1965 was an amazing visual spectacle as well. About 6 fallers that year

I both love & hate this horse race -- it's basically an equine destruction derby. But it's also very compelling. Eww...

People just need to stop this is animal abuse. I show jump but racing your horse as fast as you can for entertainment and money this is rude

American horse racing is fine. We don't lose half the horses as soon as it starts.

People complain about American horse racing. Atleast when the race starts half the field doesn't die. Good lord this sport is horrible
