My eyesight isn't great, so I could tell the images from PS5 and 4 were different, but I didn't have a preference between them, so I think I'm going to be okay on PS4

Well, it would have to look at least as good as GT Sport, there's no way it would look worse and actually, graphical quality is almost the same on PS5, at least on Gran Turismo, the only differences are performance, sensations with the controller and ray tracing

I’m still waiting for a ps5 to be available in stores. I’m not paying scalper prices for one. I can’t believe it’s been over a year now. The ps2 was nowhere near this bad. It was about 6 months before you could easily get a ps2 without going on eBay

It's not that the PS4 is holding ground, it's that the PS5 version got held back. They held back to make sure the two versions were similar since both versions play together. If they advanced the PS5 version too much, there would likely be an advantage to having the console over the PS4.

If you compare this with GT Sport, it does look as if Polyphony have eeked out as much performance as they can, from the PS4. Where the PS5 will really shine will be with draw distance (pop up is noticeable on GT Sport; in track objects, as well as the quality of cars from a certain distance), level of detail (especially in 4K), depth perception, light movements and reflections. The PS4 and 5 share very similar architecture, likewise the software APIs to access the hardware are similar. Hence why it's a lot easier to create a cross platform game, than it was in the past. You can easily dial things down, for the PS4 version. Making GT6 for both PS3 and PS4 would have required completely separate codebases and dev teams, due to the different architecture.

I'm really happy the PS4 version still retains all the content and still looks good. I remember rushing to buy a PS3 back in the day because games that were coming out for both the 2 and 3 were SIGNIFICANTLY different.

@@solidsnake123100 30 fps replays (ps4 and ps4 pro) but its still a mostly steady 60 fps in race for all 3.

I appreciate Polyphony for making it fair across the board. The PS5 looks top-notch with of course some sacrifices to be made for the PS4/Pro to handle GT7 properly, but ends up being an enjoyable game to play with fantastic visuals regardless of console. Thank you so much to all the developers. As a late buyer of the PS4 Pro four years ago, I could still appreciate and maximize my gaming experience on a previous-gen console and be able to play with those who already own the PS5. Gran Turismo has been my go-to game ever since the pandemic started. Looking forward!

@@TheOne_p Sad how? The PS4 versions may be subpar compared to the PS5, but I still reckon it's among the best looking games with the PS4 hardware. Pair it with a capable TV set and still gives my eyes the treat.

I just got a PS5 and I'm really not impressed. I felt like PS4 to pro was a bigger jump than pro to PS5. Can't believe I was so interested in getting one. PC is where it's at.

@@iwhite111 yes, C1 OLED and 165 hz 4k vesa 600 monitor. The pro was 4k as well. The graphics are slightly better and the frame rate is slightly better. Still leaves a lot to be desired. It plays most games at 60 fps. Makes for a very mushy experience when panning the camera or when displaying quick motion. The console is like half the power of a 3070. The checkerboard upscaling can't holding a candle to AI upscaling like dlss either.

Thanks so much for this video, this is exactly what I was looking for! I still only have the original PS4 and I'm blown away at how good this game looks on that platform. Couple that with the fact that the upgrade to the PS5 version is only $10, making it easy to make the switch once I finally can afford and find a PS5, and I feel very confident in getting GT7 for my PS4. I'd been limiting myself to the Game Pass version of Forza Horizon 5 on PC, and while FH5 is a phenomenal game, I'm very much missing being able to race at Spa, the Nurburgring, the Tokyo Expressway, Daytona, and the rest of what GT7 has on offer. Thanks to your video I'll be comfortable pulling the trigger once I save up enough to buy GT7 for PS4!

When I first saw sony show GT7 I wasn't blown away with the visuals. Polyphony do a great job anyway but as far as next-gen I want convinced. Adding all console versions has shown me I'm right. The best way to describe how GT7 looks on PS5 is to think how the game would look if Sony had released a PS4 super pro. PS5 has been out only a little over a year and with many games being cross generation may have had an impact on PS5 development as devs get to grips with the new hardware. I think the big leap will be GT8 on PS5 if that ever happens. I think horizon as beautiful as it is could have even been better. Look what the ps4 version of Horizon looks like, a masterpiece in graphics.

PS4 Pro is actually pretty solid. Regular PS4 is not bad at all too.

This is simply amazing. I'm picking up a PS4 Pro soon so now I know what I am looking forward to in comparison.

This is honestly why I don't get why people are scurrying to buy PS5s. Larger game files resulting in that 1tb SSD filling up quicker than a PS4's sizes filling up 1tb slower saving on storage space and requiring expansions/ upgrades much later. Sure there are visual differences, but this isn't PS1 to PS2 kinds of differences anymore; last gen was basically when we've officially hit the peak shift in the curve of graphical disparity to where now better graphics don't really offer too much more than smoothen out something that already looks amazing. The majority of people play games for the gameplay not to oggle the finer details in visuals anyway and since either generation plays the game up to par atleast it just seems kinda nitpicky to care about that and you're ultimately better off just using your old hardware to play the games available to both. If you don't own a last gen then sure with the market of video game consoles right now you're better off just buying the current gen when it's practically the same price point (going retail.)

you realize that often times the PS5 game file sizes are actually smaller than on the PS4 because of kraken compression, right?

It is indeed very impressive for a game this modern running on a console that released way back in 2013

I still have my PS4 Pro (and will keep it anyway) and what I see here meets my expectations. There's just not that much left above the graphics quality of the PS4 (Pro), you really have to compare the games side by side to spot the differences. And anyway the differences are not so big that playing the game on a PS4 would be less fun than on the PS5. Of course it looks best on the PS5, but I don't think I would say it really is worth the extra money or the efforts to even get your hands on one. For me, the attraction to Gran Turismo comes from the characteristic feeling it creates. The attention to detail, especially to the car details, the variety of cars and tracks, the race series and game modes ... "it's just Gran Turismo", and it feels like home.

I agree with your comment about GT being home I played since GT 1 my favourite is gt4 but yeah it's like FIFA or pro evolution soccer games that really you've spent your whole life playing

Glad I have a PS4 Pro. The Pro is a lot closer to PS5 than I would have thought.

There is one detail the PS4 can give you, that the PS5 can not. And that is the heat, and wind in your hair, as that fan, absolute screams. lol

Good to know the game still looks good on the PS4. Recently sold my Xbox One to get a PS4 Slim just because I heard GT7 was releasing soon. For now, I'm burning time with Horizon Forbidden West and am surprised how well it looks on the PS4.

Happy for PS4 owners, the game still looks good on this machine, but not so happy for me and other PS5 owners.... I think GT7 is good but I'd expected something better on PS5. At this point I really don't know if it's up to the "fact" cross gen, or this is the maximum power of PS5. I love the PS5 speed, but a part from the speed, nowadays PS5 is a pro with M2 HDD. My opinion.

From a returning player going from gt4 in 2015 to gt7 in 2022 I can really say. The Gran turismo series is the future of racing games

What about Forza Motorsport 8?

I was expecting GT on PS5 to blow me away with it's graphics. It doesn't look much better than the PS4, and even if you could buy a PS5 at the moment, the graphics don't appear to be £300-£400 better. Thanks for the video really interesting to see!

Remember when Sony announced this was supposed to be a PS5 exclusive? I wonder what made them change their mind...... I'm glad its on PS4, most people will be able to play it after all.

You know... I always knew and had faith that if PD was going to make a GT title for both consoles that it would be the best they could pull off on both... but even I am shocked at just how little they gave up to have the game run darn near flawlessly on the PS4. Clearly the FPS boost is a wonderful thing with the PS5, but dang if the PS4 version still isn't a looker... like damn. PD knocked it out of the park!

Maybe by the time GT8 comes out, there will be a PS5 on the shelf somewhere for me to buy.

Can't decide on whether I'm amazed at how well the ps4 version holds up, or dissapointed about how little difference the ps5 version has over previous gen consoles. Either way the game looks gorgeous though.

It’s a bummer because I thought the same thing. However I’ve been playing for about 45 mins now and I will say this video dosent do the Ps5 justice. The lighting really is much much better on the ps5 then I ever would have imagined, based on the videos I have seen so far. Especially with a good HDR tv it’s really making a difference. Other than that and the loading times it’s not a hugeeee major leap

I was lucky afew years back to grab a Pro model as I traded my launch version for it. PS5 should be in my possession whenever it is available.

I like that you made this video. I preordered gt7 a few weeks ago on my PS4 bc I hadn’t been lucky at getting the ps5 but last week I was able to secure the p5 and it came in at perfect timing to experience gt7 on it this previous Wednesday. It’s good to know that if I had to play on the PS4 I would’ve had basically the same experience as I do now on the ps5. It just shows how polyphony cares and understands the issues we’ve all been having looking for the new gen consoles

It still look so great on the ps4. And at the end of the video you mentioned something abouth the motions blur not being present in the last gen consoles, ive been playing pc for a while and the motion blur can literally be annoying at times... so no dealbreaker for me

I don't want to be a dick but let's take a moment and imagine how the game would look like if not the PS4 sales greed.... Gran Turismo always has been a graphical benchmark....and releasing game only on PS5 could push boundaries even further.

No motion blur on PS4s - for me that's a good thing. I hate it and always turn it off.

I hate it to as a PC gamer, however for racing games it's good for the immersion of speed, as our eyes have motion blur in real life when we are in a fast car.

What's Gran Turismo without absolutely pushing hardware past its limits with numerous visual sacrifices and some frame rate dips? It's been a series staple since the beginning. GT6 is still a game I play religiously and that game requires you to run in 720p in order to achieve more stable frame rates and it has numerous graphical artifacts and whatnot, yet it still doesn't detract from the actual game. And the fact there's no motion blur in the PS4 ports is honestly a good thing, motion blur sucks.

ps4 version looks really impressive/close next to ps5..am sure this game was in development for over 5yrs for ps4 since Sport was a prologue then ported it to ps5 just like most cross-gen games. It just shows off what an 8yr ps4 is capable of..(ps4 base owner) me..am going to wait to early summer after a few updates and after that 5yrs of updates.

Good thing i won't need to spend over $500 to play a single game, Sony did a good job future proofing the PS4 to handle these new games.

You may need to tweet your picture settings on your TV because I'm playing on ps4 slim and my my picture doesn't look as grainy. The quality of your TV will make a big difference also. What type of TV are you using

Exactly this ^ a good HDR TV can make a huge difference.

I'm completely satisfied with the regular ps4, except maybe for the loading screens, but graphic wise no complains whatsoever

Great to see the comparisons. The PS4 still looks great and it’s not a massive difference between the PS4 and PS5. PD did the absolute right thing to release GT7 on both generation console in the past each generation PS consoles had two GT title releases.

I'm on ps4 for this game. Ps5 looks Incredible Ps4 looks good enough.

If you buy PS4 version, and later get a PS5, can you transfer your save game file?

The game will load your save from the server. It's one of the reasons why this game is always online.

why is it backwards though. you should ALWAYS start with PS4, then PS4 PRO, then PS5

I'm kind of surprised to see that PS4 Pro really is a pretty good middle ground between PS4 and PS5.

I have a PS4 Pro - love it. At the time it was well within budget and I've never been happier. I did find though there's a slim amount of titles for it - the PS3 was better. While I won't argue the videos of Gran Turismo 7 do indeed look incredible on the PS5, a few extra details aren't really enough to get me to buy it. I've been fortunate to see a few videos of GT7 on the PS4 and the game play still looked beautiful.

Can people on a PS4 play online with people on the PS5?

Wow. This has quashed any concerns that it might not be up to the job on my dusty, wheezing base level PS4. My TV is also as old as my PS4 so it just makes sense for me to get it on the old girl.

Unsurprising given GT Sport looking amazing already. However, I’m pretty sure the PS4 Pro version has both Framerate and Resolution Mode, no? Framerate Mode is 1080p and 60fps all around (including replays), Resolution Mode is 4k (checkerboarded) with 60fps gameplay and 30fps replay? Or did PD omit them?

@@Pluvillion No it hasnt lol I play it on the Ps5 trust theres no Option for the Grapical Fidelty, it always chooses the best possible.

I'm playing on a Ps4 Pro on a smart tv that only goes to 720P & it still looks, feels, & sounds amazing.

Im getting the 25th Anniversary Edition....comes with Ps5 disc and Ps4 entitlement since I still have the ps4 but plan on upgrading once everything calms down.

With PS4 your basically getting GT sport graphics with the ps5 version your getting that extra shine PS4 definitely held this game back but as they say there's ten's of millions of ps4s

Glad Polyphony put effort into all systems here. For the PS5 though, it's great having such fast load times on a game like GT which is something we've never experienced.

If I haven't got any PS4/PS5 which console is recommended? Is the PS4 Pro version have some upgrade over the PS4? Is it worth it? PS5 is very hard to find here

This is actually first game I have seen which gives meaning to ray tracing. But, the game still looks outstanding on PS4 as well. Well done guys! I just hope it gets updates for next few years

It looks like the last gen console generation is holding back GT7 visuals in this. Only noticeable difference is resolution and frame rate. Maybe they'll go all in on the graphics in GT8 once they've unshackled themselves from old gen.

The difference between PS4 and PS5 is not as big as I thoughf it would be.

Honestly thank you so much for this, I recently had to give up my PS4 pro when it’s hard drive started having seriously brick like troubles and had to trade it in for a slim cause at the time that was all GameStop had in stock, and obviously I along with so many others are still struggling to nab a PS5, so I was worried that my slim PS4 wouldn’t run this game well, glad to see I don’t have to worry about much. I've a ps5 and gran turismo 7 ps4 disc is cheaper than ps5 disc, should i buy ps4 disc or ps5?

I am building a new pc for MSFS (on month 7 waiting for the gfx card shit to settle down a bit) or I would have already gotten a used ps4 pro just for this title. Kaz was relentless in achieving his dream and we are all lucky enough to go along for the ride.

Really the benefit of PS5 > PS4 pro is the loading times. Graphically there isn't much difference.

I bought a PS4 at its release hoping for this game to come out soon. Now that it is finally here I don't have a playstation anymore. I'm tempted to get one again but just for one game doesn't make sense + still can't get a PS5 anyways. Can't this just come to PC? I mean Forza is good and all but just no GT and this series is to this day the one I have the most hours in.

I found the handling on daily driven car become realistic. I own a DC2 and surprising GT7 simulates the same road behavior and handling. Good work Sony and GT7 is A true driving simulator. Road and bend are identical to actual circuit.

For those people saying the PS5 graphics aren't a huge step up aren't bearing in mind they're watching a. KZread video which downgrades the quality slightly When you see a game running in person on the actual console and a decent TV the difference (between PS4 and PS5) is massive and more noticeable

I think they optimized it gloriously also on PS4 and PS4 pro because let's be honest, pretty much no one has a PS5 right now, only a few would like to spend more than it costs for it

In the direct comparison between the PS5, PS4 Pro and PS4, I noticed that even the speedometer on the PS4 was a bit blurred. I'm wondering if this is how the game is running on the PS4 or if it was because of how the footage was captured. All in all, the game still looks good on the PS4.
