    Saw him live last year, and the audience singing together was absolutely insane. One of the best community experiences i’ve ever had, and i’m in my 50s, am a musician and have been to lots of great concerts. I know Jacob annoys some people (seems like a combination of fear and jealousy tbh) but I appreciate his fun childlike side, and i hope he doesn’t lose it, even when he gets old.

    This guy, Mr Jacob, is such an inspiration. I'm about to turn 50, I used to be a musician and I gave up last year because I couldn't bear the disappointment I felt about what I was doing in the "music industry". I already knew Jacob, but in the last few days I've been watching some of his masterclasses and I love listening to him speak because I can identify with every word he says. As I listen to him, I can only imagine being able to put my fears aside and get back to doing something where I can share my love of spontaneous, unplanned music with other people. A big hug to you Jacob. You're a boy with a huge blessing. (from portugal)

    These fellas energy is really polar (high-high Jacob v. low-low Jessie literally at the end of the opposite spectrum) turned out nicely balancing the conversation's dynamics.😂

    14:39 Her story about flipping a coin should be required listening for anyone, not just creative people. I’m so happy there are young people now who are able to access this level of wisdom because we are going to need them in the next 80 years.

    The rug is a euphemism for him leaving his mommy's basement. This is hysterical.

    I mean, if he'd never left his mom's basement, never done anything in the world, you might have a point. But he's not an incel, bashing out vitriolic projections of self-loathing on Reddit and other dubious forums. He's Jacob Collier, a world-renowned musician, recording artist and live performer, holder of six Grammys, and a man who devotes considerable time and energy to music education. In the whirlwind that has swept him up for the last ten years, his family home has been a source of stability, repose and love, and a place of creativity that has anchored and nourished him. I don't think it's about him being tied to his mother's apron strings, or lacking courage to strike out on his own - he does that every day with his music. He is extremely close to his mother, but not through dependence, nor a fear of being close to other people. She is a terrific person and also a talented musician herself, and they have become collaborators as well as friends. If home is the place he wants to be, then who are we to judge?

    C major and C minor are related keys that have the same tonal center, but different key signatures: C major has no sharps or flats (an empty key signature)and C minor has 3 flats (Bb, Eb, Ab). amazing!

    This event was held on 2nd Feb 2023, just a matter of days before the Grammys ceremony, and I expect most of the people there were fully vaccinated and boosted - so what has COVID denialism got to do with it?

  • @healxo

    @healxo

    @@Ozymandi_as considering the vaccines aren't the sterilizing type, they do not prevent transmission. Wearing a proper-fitting respirator (n95 or above) + ventilation + air filtration + quarantine + testing + vaccines prevent transmission. Using vaccines as an excuse to hold an in-person event or defend it is basically like yelling that you're uninformed. I don't mind that you don't know better, but would prefer it if you would learn more so you stop spreading disease

    Jacked? As in chemically enhanced? His mind is endlessly active, clearly, but I think that is most likely a function of a level of creative energy and curiosity that few of us will ever experience ourselves. But he also has phenomenal awareness of himself, of others, and his creative process that is a result of deep introspection rather than tripping.

    “terrible dresser” he does that on purpose similar to his approach to music A. you can do WTF you B. who cares, stop following others’ ideas of “style & taste” C. Who gives a F about clothing anyway
