Great videos (parts one and two), Rue. One of my great-grandfathers was born in Graiguenamanagh in 1823. I am working on his part in my family history so I searched for videos to get mental images and knowledge about his town and countryside. We've been to Ireland twice and found cousins in my paternal grandfather's line in County Mayo but we didn't get to Graiguenamangh. The beauty is incredible. He likely walked over the bridge, fished and swam in the river, and explored the Brandon mountain before he came to America in 1849. He probably had a hard life as famines and food shortages were common in his childhood and young adulthood. The town, county, and country were devastated by the Great Famine in the mid and late 1840s so his flight to the United States was imperative. No doubt, he missed his family and lovely town but he found happiness In Pennsylvania where he found a wife, got a lovely farm, and raised a large, successful family. Thanks for sharing these videos, Rue.

You're most welcome Thomas & thank you so much for watching 😊 I'm happy to hear your great grandfather found happiness in the end after all the strife he encountered. By the way I've some vlogs too if you go further back among my videos of my hike to the summit of Brandon Hill, the highest point of County Kilkenny which overlooks Graiguenamanagh, not to be confused with the greater Mount Brandon found in County Kerry! I hope someday you can make it there to experience it in person & I live about 20 miles from it. If I may ask you a favour please Thomas? I'm trying to reach 1000 subscribers by the end of the year so if you'd be kind enough to hit the subscribe button I'd be very grateful for your help in achieving my target. I thank you in advance sir & have a truly wonderful week 🤗

@@RuePhoto Will do. I watched your three Brandon Hill videos. Great walk alongs! Thanks for sharing. We climbed Croagh Patrick in 2006. Some of our family made it to the peak. There is a small church there. It offers beautiful views. Thanks for sharing.

Hi@@laurambolgeryou'll need to address that to Thomas rather than me as I think it was meant for him since my roots are in Bangladesh / British India (pre-1947). Thanks for watching by the way & do please subscribe to my channel 😊 Enjoy the rest of your weekend & have a truly beautiful week 🤗
