Grafham can be a very hard water, conditions change every moment. The browns will smash large lures, I've had brownies up to about 8-9lbs on 16cm swimbaits in that place. Back out again on Saturday, fly fishing for those zeds. Thoroughly enjoyed the video lads 💯

Thanks very much William, Tight lines for Saturday. Definitely some very large Brown trout in Grafham, wouldn't' be surprised to see a 15lb one, have seen very large ones on the sonar when lure fishing also.

Excellent video! Zander flyfishing can be so hard but when you finally manage to hook one of these spiky rascals it’s something else. Thank you from Switzerland Tight Lines Timo

Great video. However, you need to buy one of those wireless mics.

Yes, we do use mics at times but keeping two mics recording for 12 hours and then syncing up the audio later is just beyond what i have time to do, as well as concentrating on the fishing. Hence the use of voiceover. the 360 camera does not have great sound. Will try for better sound . Thanks

Perfect video to watch as I’m going on Friday. I’m a bit daunted as it’s my first time on Grafham and I’ve never caught a zander. Would you say slow retrieve for the zander? And apologies if I missed on the video but do you use a fluorocarbon trace whilst targeting zander?

HI Fisher, apologies, thought i had replied to this but it seems to have disappeared. In answer to your questions. Generally I would say the deeper (+ 15ft )we are trying to fish, the slower the retrieve, if fishing shallow then chances are the fish are hunting and so will be triggered by a slightly faster retrieve. Fly leaders are made up of are 20- 30lb fluro to 10 - 20lb knot-table wire (AFW surflon micro supreme), usually 5 to 7ft in length from the end of the fly line. Kev uses a fastach clip on the end of his line to attach flies, I just tie on with a perfection loop. I use a small swivel mid leader, so that I can alter the end section to suit conditions and depths. Finally, Zander fly fishing is really tough going at times but that only increases the reward when you get a good result.
