So busy this week, getting ready for Molly's graduation ceremonies on Friday and Saturday and then her party next week. I have been shopping for decor, supplies and favor supplies. Getting ready for the big day. I thought it would be fun to share the things I have been planning as well as the purchases we have made in preparation.
We are planning to have a popcorn bar and a candy bar as well as cake, pick up foods that will be catered by the local Publix grocery deli. I did not want to worry about having to prepare all the fresh things Molly wanted to serve at her party on the morning of the party so I opted to go with the sane route and buy it all. In the end, i want to have memories of spending time with my family on this ocassion and not memories of trying to deal with the pitfalls of preparing and serving food to a myriad of guests. When that happens everyone has a great time except for you.
I am really excited to do the popcorn bar. We plan to fill a bushel basket with popcorn and have butter spritz and lots of sprinkles available for the popcorn courtesy of Kernel Season's! We will be doing a video on how we set up the popcorn and candy bar for everyone to enjoy.
Molly's theme is fancy farmhouse. Think burlap, lace, galvanized metal and chalkboard. I purchased two large sheets of black foam core board to make a few chalk board signs for the different stations for things like the cake, popcorn, candy and we will be having a table where guests can fill out a slip of paper with their best life advice and put it in the "words of wisdom" jar. There will also be a table with invitation sized envelopes where guests will be asked to fill them out with their address so that Molly can send a thank you note.
Another great suggestion from one of my viewers will be a photo taking area which will be outside (weather permitting). An old door that will be painted with chalkboard paint and propped against a tree that will be decorated with chalk art and balloons. The perfect place for snapping Instagram, snap-chat, Twitter and Facebook pics.

Planning a party can be daunting but if you make lots of lists and keep yourself organized it can be easier than you think. I can't wait to share the decorated hall with the day comes! So stay tuned for that soon!

I love all your party ideas. It sounds like it will be a wonderful time. Your decorations are awesome. I love that rustic tin look. It sounds like your expecting a pretty big crowd, you better double up or more in your candy supplies. I am sure you will gave to be refilling those buckets a couple times. awesome ideas. I don't have to worry about my kids graduating yet for about another 8 years but good ideas none the less. BTW u got me addicted to torani syrups now. I have one turned 18 yesterday and graduates next week. Graduation has gotten expensive.. The class rings alone they wanted $400 for a simple one and more to design it and all the special sports,etc. Congratulations Molly,your mom and dad are awesome. TFS

What a fabulous party Molly is going to have! Mom, you are so sweet! :) My son graduates from high school in a few weeks too, unfortunately he does NOT want a party. However, I DO! lol I plan on making it small just dad, me and his brother's but we are going to celebrate! ;)

Rachal Nocchi Molly did not want one either. But I told her that sometimes the introverts need to deal. We are going to celebrate her accomplishments regardless with family friends and church. Sometimes Mom has to pull rank!

when you said they don't have Bacon,I was yelling, yes they do it's cheddar bacon. haha. I actually don't put the cheddar bacon on my popcorn and put it on my salad. I know one more way to make a salad(my ranch salad) unhealthy but I don't put any thing unhealthy on it but that and I use yogurt dressing. my husband likes the white cheddar and the the buffalo. we've had the butter the caramel we've had several several different flavors. And I keep the popcorn salt on hand for like salting my nuts after I toast them I like how fine it is. I also use popcorn salt for several other different things for finishing my stuff because of the finest of the popcorn salt.

Is college the same as university ? It seems to mean something completely different here in Au and UK than it does in the US. Here the last 2 years of highschool are called college. Also the school my sons go to is also a private Christian college. It goes from prep/ preschool/kindergarten to Year

or grade 12, which is the last year of highschool here. My oldest son is also finishing his last year of highschool or year 12 and graduating in November. He is going to University, next year.

NJSMKMMS high school here is grade 9 - 12. A college is a school in a University. However a community college is a school where you can obtain a two year associates degree an transfer to a university where you complete your Bachelors degree and/or work toward your masters degree. My girls are part of a special program called "Early College". They go for five years. They complete 4 years of high school classes in the first two years. The last three are spent working on their chosen Associates degree. So Molly has been going for 5 years (regular high school is normally 4). She will have a ceremony on Friday where she will graduate from high school and on Saturday morning she will graduate in the Community College ceremony with an Associate in Arts degree. In the fall she will begin an elite program through East Carolina University where she will complete her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.

Oh OK thanks for explaining that. So I lived on campus with a few Primary school (years or grades 1 to 6) Teaching students. They got a diploma after 3 years. That's all most of them got because that allowed them to get a diploma of teaching and a teaching job. Then some of them did an extra year

and they got a Bachelor of Teaching or education or I can't remember the exact title. I got a Bachelor of Social Work, that was 4 years. I worked for a while then did a few post grad bits and pieces. A Bachelor of Arts or Science you can get in 3 years. My son wants to do electrical engineering.
