@@MlungisiNkosi Good day sir. I just wanted to find out whether this video has been made public??
Good morning Mr Nkosi once again. Would you say that two processes/applications of electrolysis (the use of a direct electric current through a battery/cell to induce a chemical reaction with non-spontaneous chemicals) is electroplating (the coating of a substance with another to prevent it from corroding as well as other reasons) and purification (removing particular pure extracts from a lump of a substance containing impurities)? Would you say that is an accurate description of the uses of electrolysis? In other words, am I correct in saying that electroplating and purification are subsections of electrolysis?

Mr Mlungisi ,the net cell reaction, is that the same as the cell notation, or they're two completely different things..?
GoodMorning sir , is it always going to be that the value at the anode is negative and the value at the cathode positive?
@MlungisiNkosi
2 жыл бұрын
For an electrolytic cell, yes it will...
for net cell reaction does it matter what you put first in the equation would it affect your answer if you put 2Cl- + Cu instead of Cu+2Cl- . this is at 9.42 minutes of the vid

Morning Sir, I'm a bit confused ..... I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this correctly🤷 on the electrolysis part am I correct to say the substance that is attracted to the anode undergoes oxidation and the substance that is attracted to the cathode undergoes reduction always ? Because I don't understand how you came to the conclusion that chloride ions undergo oxidation and copper ions undergo reduction 🥲

Good day sir, there is this one question that always confuses me in electrochemistry, simple actually, example they would ask for which one is the reducing agent between Fe and Mg, i do know that answer but i dont know if it should be Mg or Mg2+ , which one should i always write and also if/when they ask for oxidising agent which one must i write the Fe or Fe2+.
@MlungisiNkosi
2 жыл бұрын
Mg undergoes OXIDATION, therefore Mg is the reducing agent. Fe3+ ion undergoes REDUCTION. Therefore Fe3+ is the oxidizing agent
