I have social anxiety (to the point where I have trouble eating in front of people), and I know that counselor’s job is to talk to people, so my path to become a counselor will definitely be challenging. But I really want to become one so I will try my best!! I tell myself that if I was able to survive the interview, I am capable of doing more!!

Thank you so much for making this video! I wrote written responses to your questions and then did a mock interview with my partner. He gave me feedback on some of my responses, which was super helpful, and then ran through a trial run again after making some adjustments. I had my interview yesterday and I think it went really well! At the very least, I felt totally prepared. The only questions that I wasn't expecting were: 1. What was a time in your life you received challenging feedback and how did you react? 2. What volunteer experience do you have as it relates to mental health? The interview was 30 minutes with two faculty members from the program. I'm really glad you included the "what does a therapist do?" question because I was asked that and honestly wouldn't have thought of an insightful answer if it weren't for the prep from your video! You really helped me, thanks again!

Just to plug in. I got accepted in the Clinical MHCP program with a B.A. in Communication Studies and as a homeschool mom. I had to write a written response to some of the questions you provided. They called me for an interview, but to be honest... I didn't know that's what it was until after 😅, but I got accepted.
