Lyrics:
I wanna write a song
One that can explain my lungs
I wanna write a song
That you can hear and..
Know how my heart yearns, and how my insides churn, and how my cheeks burn from the weekly storm
And how my face turns before you return to the wall and then down the floor
But I keep only
Seeing rain
I will say no
But you keep crawling in my brain
I wanna get lost
Run away
In the dark
Is where I’ll stray
I gotta write a song
But I wanna feel my words
And I keep getting it all wrong
Think it out, write it out, rip it out, start all over ooh
And I keep only
Seeing rain
I will say no
But you keep crawling in my brain
I wanna get lost
Run away
In the dark
Is where I’ll stray
I wanna feel the way I used to
I wanna move the way I used to groove
I wanna feel the way I used to
I wanna move the way I used to groove
But I keep only
Seeing rain
I will say no
But you find your way into my brain
I wanna get lost
Run away
In the dark is where I
I keep only seeing rain
I will say no
But you keep crawling in my brain
I wanna get lost
Run away
In the dark
Is where I’ll stay
I wanna feel the way I used to
I wanna move the way I used to groove
I wanna feel the way I used to
I wanna feel the way I used to

@@damnmaisitthatserious7086 Billie is overrated. She has a so-so voice and gets attention by doing controversial things, like flipping the middle finger every chance she gets. She's gimmicky, just like many others already famous in the industry. Perhaps when Grace turns 17 or 18, she too will become 'just another" DIRRTY-type singer. It's how the industry works. Not controversial, no fame.

true that she might be able to speak to ALL kinds of people with that voice, but her voice sounds kinda country to me(aka has that country vibe), not the ones you hear like from Miley Cyrus, or God Bless USA (original singer), More of the country style can mainly speaks to the soul of country singers.....

Stray is Grace's 'born again' song, the epic creation that brought her back to herself, back to her roots, back to feeling her music "from a place deep inside my chest" (most of us would call that her 'heart') and the genius inside her was alive again and what followed was a series of astonishing emotional creations that illuminated her most intimate feelings and personal philosophy and the World was soon blessed with the incomparable "Letters Vol 1", a collection of music as powerful, as moving and affecting as anything we have seen in music in generations! Thank you Grace!!

It should also be pointed out: Many artists have died off in the public eye because of "over saturation". Artists and record companies have learned the hard way to space out an artists songs, records etc. in order to not saturate the market and make people sick of hearing them. This is what they are attempting to do with Grace - space her songs out so the market is not saturated with her music and people get sick of hearing her.

@elawson20 First: This Music Video is a Masterpiece. It is both surprisingly Beautiful Music and Visual Art. But, I'm glad 350,000 have discovered it in the 1st 24 hours, and it isn't Daybreak #2 yet. (In just this ONE KZread Channel.) It should steadily GROW as more discover it. Most of her Fans have played it many times Today during its Premiere. I think this Music is cutting a NEW Edge. It is part like Blues, partly Indie, and partly Rock. That makes it very worthy of a listening to, repeatedly...as the theme soaks in. By the 3rd play, you start to get Addicted! Nobody can duplicate Grace fully. Her sound is Unique, and catching on. And...it has ENDLESS Playability! That means it will become a Classic in the Grace Archieves. IMO. I trust some of her other releases are more Upbeat... But this DEEP Song is very Timely, Strong, and a Good Song that begs to be Replayed. I hope it climbs the Charts. ……………………………………………... I predict all this Pre Promotion Stuff for Stargirl...for the next 9 months is going to have her Fans so Hyped... It's going to be over-the-top! Disney is Very, Very Experienced in Pre Promotions. A year-to-view Goodwill is almost unheard of, except in Star Wars Films (which Disney also owns). But, it is going on NOW. I can see a next Winter Release... While Disney Ramps up their Streaming Service. It is going to be so awesome... as Fans are basically all clamoring to see Stargirl... that it literally floods the Internet with attempts to see it.... In Millions of Households all over the Planet. Grace's 1 Million... to 35 Million Views of her songs, could match or overrun all previous Downloads... As both her SONGS and the Film itself are the talk of the Planet. IMO.

Before my senior high school years, i could write 11 pages a day. Now, i can't write even a single page in a day. The lyrics " i wanna feel the way i used to " is for me, a point in this song. While Grace was coping with her feelings and the whole grown up things when writing her songs, i feel the same about writing my novels and have to cope with my social anxiety, depression, and family problems. Thanks Grace, your songs made me to be truly, myself for once. Thanks a lot Grace, thanks! (i know it's long, sorry about that. And maybe the gramatical errors)

"Stray" is as important as any song Grace has ever created.. right up there with "I Don't Know My Name" and "Moonlight". It quite literally is her "born again" song, it talks about throwing away the previous years work that had drifted into a place that just wasn't Grace.. not really her own personal works coming from the source deep within her that reflected her very own feelings and philosophy and literally freed her of any anxiety and tensions that life's experience had brought to her. And this song.....THIS AMAZING SONG.... embodies a complete and triumphant return to that source, that philosophy and those so very personal feelings and displays a unique creative genius that will one day elevate Grace to the level of a very few true legends of music!

@@jamessmithe5490 exactly! We can be reasonably sure based on her comments about "Insane Sometime" that it would have been tossed from JTB if she was in the same modus operandi at that time. And that song is one of my 2 favorite JTB songs to song along to....ha! Sure would like to know what it was that she was so unhappy with about it.

Wow! Hauntingly beautiful. Grace has that ability to open her mouth and stop the world from mattering. As a ten year old kid in 1967, I remember the feeling of hearing Aretha for the first time. Grace has that same effect on me. Everything just stops.

I'm so glad your back!! Ever since your first audition on AGT I've been listening to your songs and feel their words. I started listening as a 11 year old and now I'm almost 14 and still loving you. You where a huge inspiration when I was little. Mya Hart maybe when she said she listens to Grace as a 9 year old during 2016 she's almost 10 but not yet cos its not birthday and thats why rn in 2019 she said she's 'almost 14' but she's currently just 13 ? maybe that explains how she listens to grace since AGT

Grace is so unique and so remarkable. For being so young she has a singular dynamic voice that takes you back to a by-gone era of music and it is SO refreshing and welcome. Thank you Grace for sharing this amazing song with us! Don't EVER stop being who you are! We love you just this way!

People who say she’s underrated are so wrong, she’s super young... she already had 3 million subscribers with multiple hits. A large amount of followers. She’s ahead of where she should be & many people would die for to be in her shoes. If she keeps going eventually she will be as big as Taylor or bigger...
