I relate to whoever was telling "we do" when she sang "I'm just trying to make you love me"

Flippin awesome socialist feminist lesbian protest singer, she gives me goosebumps with her truth and melts my heart with her feelings. Beautiful.
Much as I like Grace Petrie's studio recordings, I'm finding this live performance even better.

It's because you get the stand up comedy too 😁
I cannot tell how many times I have watched this performance from the start straight to the end already.
I'm delighted at the generosity of Shrewsbury folk festival in making this available. Thanks!
I relate so much to the ppl in the audience who you can hear singing along with EVERY WORD ☺️
I stumbled upon this totally by accident, and now I'm hooked! This is the third time I've watched it. What an absolute class act Grace Petrie is. Great songs, great band, engaging patter. Consummate professional. I'm now a fan!
She makes me wanna attend a festival proper and all to listen to her

Yes, there are so many good folk festivals in the UK at different times of the year. The quality of performances never disappoints. The smaller ones are friendly and the performers are very accessible. Several years ago when Grace played Hartlepool folk festival, I found her outside the hall after her set talking with the interested. When things open up again, this website will be useful to follow. ukfolkfestivals.co.uk/england.php

I should have gone, but I never knew ... I really like Grace Petrie in this concent and great to see local heroine Jasmine Kennedy on bass & backing vocals!
Love this artist

Super. We need more like her. Peter Turner.
What a great song! Everyone should see Grace live, she's amazing.
This is a great recording Before Lockdown I discovered Grace Petrie and had seen her four times in a year. I had 4 tickets to see her last May...how I am missing the live performance. She is fabulous and her audiences are lovely. When I first went to see her, I thought I might (as a 68 year old straight man) feel out of place, but right form the start of the gig I felt included. She is magic.
I watched this performance from my holiday home because I hate loud crowds and noises and I loved every second of it, so now I've come back to watch it again.
This is exceptional. I don't think it gets any better than this.
Awesome. Absolutely .... Awesome. Gracie is a legend.
One of my highlights from 2019. What a talent.
well done Shrewsbury folk - and well done Grace Petrie.
Brilliant
Truly Awesome Grace - Stay true to yourself and keep singing, please.
Fantastic thankyou.
Discovered this brilliant concert this week. Had heard you on The Guilty Feminist podcast. Love your lyrics, your music, your comments and rapport with the audience! YOU ROCK, GRACE PETRIE!
I'm fairly new to Grace, but from my first listen to Black Tie I loved her stuff. Thanks Shrewsbury Folk Festival for this :)
Happy New Year Grace, Caitlín and all the gang, and the wee dog!
Thanks for posting, just saw her in Halifax. Outstanding show! Thank you Grace
That was just fantastic. Thank you.

I was there, too, Callum, but I caught this set. I spent parts of it in tears. Brilliant. And hearing the tent bellowing out the sweary bits of 'Black Tie' was a delight!

@@camaldo3490 No worries! I will be at Shrewsbury next year, and you will find me with my mandolin in aa many sessions as I can manage, in between the paid acts. I shall raise a glass in the Berwick Bar to those with taste in music!
I'll be at her gig on the 13th November 2021, any (preferably young) Petrie fans wanna link?

I'm going to see her in Nottingham in March if you'll be there?
I assumed A Young Woman's Tale was written by Grace. "Learned from Roy Bailey" meaning learned from him how to write such a song? She seems to have songwriting down okay on her own...

I’m pretty sure it’s Grace’s lyrics as a contemporary reworking of Ian Campbell’s ‘An Old Man’s Tale’, which is a great bit of storytelling about the poor being sent off to war after war - def worth a look!
She seems like a really nice fella.
