Watched for the first time and turned over. Characters appeared with no explanation of who they were or how they were connected to the plot. I’m not going to wait to have everything explained to me in the last five minutes.

don't bother i didn't get past the first episode everything I've seen this great actor in has been exceptional unfortunately this pile of tosh should be forgotten, the rest of the cast should stick to voice-overs in adverts or radio and never be seen again.

Just watched a second show of Grace about beetles left behind at a killing. The tension was almost unbearable. Required the second glass of scotch. Next episode I'll tape it and watch it during the afternoon, not just before bedtime. GREAT ACTING by all.

Curious series set in BRIGHTON ..with wooden RICHIE CAMPBELL roaming around in a designer suit and sports car ..THIS IS BRIGHTON DUDE. .As usual JOHN SIMM is excellent and perfectly cast but wasted here .In my opinion best to read the PETER JAMES books

  • @standbytogo123

I have read all of the Roy Grace books. I note that Peter James thought the actor John Simm who plays Roy in the programmes is exactly as he saw Roy. I had a different picture of Roy being a heavier set and taller person. Funny different people see characters when reading about them. Alison Vosper is completely different from how I imagined her and how she is described in the books. Still we have to be all inclusive these days don't we. Any left handers in the cast? A marginalised minority if there ever was one.

I saw Roy Grace as a more athletic guy, and somehow more attractive, fuller hair, sympathetic smile but still a snappy guy in my mind.

@@stefanielenz5264 I saw the first episode on the TV last night, 'Dead Simple', I've read the book twice. I was a bit surprised at the portrayal of Glen Branson. He used to work as a bouncer and so I saw him as being taller and well built with a deep voice saying 'Yo ole timer' to Roy. The banter between Roy and Branson from the books seems to be missing.. No sign of Norman Potting yet, wonder why that could be? The nod to diversity and inclusiveness within the cast is quite obvious, they have even got a Geordie in there amongst others from differing parts of the UK. Any Left handers in there though? Another marginalised group not well represented in TV programmes.

@@missladyanonymity You really don't seem to get it do you? Characters who are quite clearly described as being white in the novel that are portrayed on tv as black IS woke. All the characters you mentioned were intended to be black in the first place. So your argument doesn't work. You never see a black character in books portrayed on tv as white. It never happens that way around. I note they didn't portray Branson as white. This IS Woke!!!!!
