You cannot fight with your sword (the Word of God/the Holy Bible) if you don't read it, consume it, and accept the truth of the Word you won't be able to fight. You have to fill yourself with the Word. See Matt 4:1-11. What Jesus did is what we have to do as Christians in spiritual warfare to come against the enemy. In prayer and in thoughts. The enemy makes suggestions to see if you will agree in thoughts and/ or actions.
