Government's new legislation to close labour hire loophole

Gig economy workers such as ride-share drivers and food delivery riders could soon benefit from a major shakeup to Australia’s workplace laws.
In the second wave of Labor’s workplace reforms, the government’s ‘Closing the Loophole Bill’ will be introduced to the parliament next week.
Industrial Relations Minister Tony Burke used his speech at the National Press Club on Thursday to argue for the changes that will improve conditions for those working in the gig economy.
Under the proposed changes, eligible parties will be able to go to the Fair Work Commission and ask for minimum standards in areas such as insurance and pay.

These companies are not just taking advantage of the drivers but also the customers too. They take customers money from surge pricing and on the other hand offer the drivers a normal price fare without surge pricing and pocket it themselves. They are robbing both sides. Come on guys, this is just unethical.

Oh no but how will the platform operators be able to garnish all the profits otherwise afforded to the places that actually cook the food. Soon a home delivery Pad Thai will cost $680.00 plus mandatory tip.
