Thanks for mentioning the City of Fresno story, the reporter was talking about a different race (1RC) which takes place indoors and combining the story with the 24th scale course. Either way, I hope the course can remain active and this coverage definitely helps get the word out.

Thanks for the news. The question? I'm definitely "a wait and see what the new company is" kind of guy. I'm old, and I've been into a lot of different hobbies through the years. My experience shows a change in the company almost always happens. Good, bad,? you never know, unless you already have history with both parties. Be well all, and have fun! 😊

Always a little leery when I see businesses change hands. You never know what or how much is going to change. Is quality going to stay the same? Will availability be consistent? How’s the support going to be with the new ownership? All the questions…

Um I just wanted to buy a CJ-7 and everything it seems is always for sale through horizon. Couple rc stores here in Az quit ordering from them because they are ghosted. So idk I just picked up the base camp k10 black for $100 off $379 OTD. It’s a good buy IMO will be looking into the dig box for it in a few weeks. Really like how clean and laid out the rig is the steering very quality feeling. I prefer the skinnier links less drag. I don’t care if business’s changes people most often don’t realize the business is really it’s investors and they dictate yes and no’s. Nothing really has seemed to change on the rig side. Traxxas, axial got better IMO stupid wood screws in the OG honcho, rc4wd, element being the newest at “the” level. You guys VP. All seems the same to me.

Depends on the vendor. Most of the time I won't order until well after the transition when others have taken the risk. Other times they're still very active in the community up until the sale. Rock titan did this. I went and bought every piece of ryft treal he had left and got a killer deal on mismatched components. Not sure if I want to paint them to match or throw on some of those rainbow injoras and name the rig "colorblind"

Depends on the reason for sale and the buyer. If there intention is to strip the cash and assets then flip the business or build on the brand that the previous owner started. Unfortunately too many small business buyers have a mind set that everything the previous owner/management did was wrong. Our LHS just had the "owner" let everyone go and came in to run the business. This has had less than optimal results. I was asked what is going wrong? Told him you can't treat customers like you do and stay in business. He then asked if I was interested in buying the business.

I'm from Fresno. The spot is next to a hobby shop and is in an industrial/commercial area that has almost zero traffic after business hours/on the weekend. The news is terrible about editing. I'm sure there was a conversation about crawling as well as other aspects like the NPRC and touring car racing that takes place around town and the news just butchered the edit. The city is calling it an "Attractive Nuisance". The area that the course is built in was previously dirt and rubble with the occasional homeless tent. Fresno harasses people doing stuff like this but looks the other way when a homeless encampment is producing literal mounds of garbage in open fields and next to railroads. Priorities... BTW Fresno is not the mosquito of the Valley, It's the armpit.

I too am fresno and this disappoints but doesn’t surprise me. I think the editing was atrocious as well. Why wouldn’t they have walked into cycle art? The news probably didn’t even know cycle art was a hobby shop. Typical journalism.

This answer is not directed to your question, but it is. I find it tough purchasing a existing business, too many people complain about some changes you make. My answer comes from watching and being apart of the Bicycle industry, when someone buys a bike shop. The new owner wants to make changes, ones that they may be right or not, but it is that persons shop now. Then customers make remarks about it not being the same. I have always said not to purchase a existing business if you want to have fun with all of your ideas. I am ok with someone buying a existing business, but I have to be ok with whatever changes.

Great news week. I really want to donthe buggy. But... not exactly able to for a few reasons. Oh well. As for the question. Inthink for me. I always habe a slight "what now" feeling. We all know things can go south. Look at hpi. Even after horizon buys up a company, the company kind of doesn't turn out anything special... atleast not often. But. It's not always a bad thing. If I had the ability. I'd totally buy one of the smaller companies, like the ones for sale now. But.... They would have to move to Canada.

I definitely am standoffish to company’s changing hands is seems it usally a 50 50 ither the company changes grows and does well or it just slowly falls apart and has underwhelming releases and slowly starts fading into the background I honestly feel like axial has lost they’re top place in the rc crawling scene they just haven’t had any killer releases Lately and vanquish has released amazing crawlers with all kinds of interchanging parts allready out to customize and vanquish is just leaps ahead innovative wise I believe staying a smaller company and working on passion projects has more than shown it’s the golden ticket

When it comes to businesses being sold/bought (and, this applies to ALL businesses, not just RC), it's one of those "six of one, and a half dozen of the other" situations. If it's a business that's doing well, you how that the new owner doesn't screw things up...doesn't "mess with the formula". On the other hand, if it's a business that's been known to have problems and/or 'problematic' (ie. poor quality) products, then to hope that they make changes to help improve the products, as well as public perception. Of course, this is all on the 'selling' side of things...but, what about the 'buying' side? Unfortunately, this is where things can get more complicated. If the buyer is known for purchasing other companies, and making them "better" (Amain would be a good example), then it's usually a safe bet that the business behind purchased will not only survive, but will (probably) become better. However, at the other end of the spectrum, there are companies known for purchasing other businesses, and making them worse (Horizon Hobby is, definitely, one company guilty of this), and this is when we, as consumers, NEED to worry. At the same time, there is also the "happy medium", when a larger company purchases a smaller company, so as to include it in their 'portfolio'...but, at the same time, allowing that business to continue operating independently (ie. a "hands off" approach), while simultaneously maintaining 'oversight'. With this last possibility, this can be a "good", or "bad", thing, depending on how things were with the purchased business before being purchased. This last option is something I am dealing with right now, and, honestly, so far, things are not good...they're not bad, but, definitely, NOT good. The company I work for (a charter bus company) is based in one state, but operates out of three different states. The 'home' location operates very efficiently, as it's run by people who've been in this industry for a great many years...but, the other two (one of which I'm at) is anything but efficient. Both of these other bases are managed by the same person (who's at my location), someone who was brought in from a taxi company. The second-in-charge is also from the same taxi company. Even worse, the just-hours dispatcher was also brought in from the same taxi company. Obviously, a taxi business, and charter bus business, are NOT the same, not do they function the same...but, these two managers are running it very similarly to how a taxi company runs, and drivers are NOT happy. Unfortunately, we can't complain to the CEO, because he's friends with the primary manager who's part of the problem...and, we can't complain to the new primary owner, because of the "hands off" way he's operating our side of the business (he wants us to follow the "chain of command", except that the "chain of command" IS the problem). This is how, when one company purchases another, it can (sooner or later) be "run into the ground". If you look at the various businesses that Apple, Microsoft, and meant others have purchased, how many of those 'brands' are still around? How many of those businesses did the "parent companies" build up into something better...and, how many of them got destroyed? Obviously, no RC company is as large (or financially well-off) as these tech behemoths...but, how purchases of smaller/other companies is handled...and, more importantly, 'what' they do with said companies...can "make" or "break" the purchased company. All I can say is, in regards to Pro-Line, I seriously hope Horizon Hobby doesn't ruin the great reputation the brand has, built from producing high-quality products, and providing very good customer service (this last point because, over the past 5-7 years, the quality of Horizon Hobby's CS has been getting worse & worse).

I think the problem is because the city views it as a structure (an accessory in this case) and it’s in an easement where you can’t build. So who ever told them they were ok didn’t know what they were saying. Which doesn’t surprise me given that building department. I’ve built in Fresno for years and they love springing things on you. Absolutely BS if you ask me.

For acquisitions of smaller companies I like it when a smaller company buys another smaller company or even two companies that are like minded buy one another. What I’m not a fan of is a company like Horizon who buys a smaller company. To me everyone hates on companies like Traxxas and get all soppy lovey on supporting Horizon when honestly they are a massive conglomerate now. I’m glad they’ve kept Pro-Line intact and let them still produce items in the USA but their acquisition of other things haven’t gone so well

Always hope the future is better, but it is always wise to be guarded. As an employee of a company that has been bought twice in the last few years, culture is usually what suffers and leads to lack of enthusiasm.

neutral. If the business grows and improves, great! If not, well... too bad I guess. I've seen it a hundred times in the bicycle industry. Big company buys small groovy company and restructures small company. Small company's groove goes away and the brand fails. Not a lot of lateral moves in the bike industry tho, so we'll see what happens

i dont mind if a business changes hands as long as the person who is taking control tries to honor the legacy of the company. I would only have an opinion on the matter if it was a company i do alot of business with otherwise having an opinion is pretty pointless lol. seeing a company change countries thats a different story. I wholly support as many american companies as I can but as you know in rc, theres not alot to choose from in the US made area.

When a company changes hands I will be honest im looking at everything it does and any negative change I instantly am ready to say "see they ruined it!" Or "it isnt how it used to be" but thats just me being change averse...in everything.

I just don't get the 1:24th scale. Price point I guess. I'd rather have something more universal to use and spend a bit more.

There's not an activity they can't simply legislate the fun out of..I'm currently dealing with and advocating mass non compliance with their efforts to control my toys I fly in parks and schools......I reckon that guvmint is the "Attractive nuisance" that needs removing/replacing ...
