The problem here seems to be less the government, and more the lobbyists for Big Dairy. It was all done to keep dairy farmers going, then to save them from their own greed, then the program became "too big to fail", which chained the government to needing to keep it up. By that point, the dairy industry became too influential and so instead of the government removing those unnecessary subsidies, it was made to help the industry with marketing.

This finally explained why I was not allowed to buy school lunch without getting a carton of milk. I tried one time and brought my own drink. It did not happen again. I disagree about cheese being unhealthy inherently. I think it has more to do with the quality of the cheese. The cheap crap they serve at fast food places is just that. A block of organic raw milk cheddar is only bad if you're over-eating because over-eating is bad. Just my 2 cents.

It's entirely dependent on who the person in question is and how they live. No matter how high-quality a cheese is, 9/10 of them are incredibly fat-filled. Not the happy fun olive oil fat. The why does it feel like I'm holding onto another person when I stand up kind of fat. That's all whatever if you're quite active, but take a look at the portion size as well as the nutrition facts next time you buy cheese.

A very similar thing happened with grains and the food pyramid, except it started with the industry paying the government instead of the other way around.

When I was going through school you only had the option for regular milk or chocolate milk. You weren’t allowed to have water with your lunch and if you wanted water, you had to get up and go to the water fountain outside of the lunch room. In high school the milk came with the lunch meal, a bottle of water was an extra charge.

Funny side thing about Canadian politics you might be interested in. I’m Canada we have a dairy lobby. Basically the dairy farmers are so powerful, they control a major portion of the Conservative Party and influence other areas of the government to keep their business profitable. Most Canadians know this and don’t care, because it mainly means our ice cream and milk is actually good. Because one of the dairy lobby’s main interest is HATING American dairy. They even got American ice cream labeled “frozen treat” as it doesn’t have enough dairy to be ice cream.

My mom mixed carnation canned milk, corn syrup, and cod liver oil to deed me instead. Then I was given cartons of milk each day in school. I struggle with dairy products to this day. What they didn't know is that pasteurization kills the enzymes needed to digest the lactose in milk. Governmental interference has always caused problems. Always! We buy raw milk from our local organic dairyman, and I make yogurt with it. Great fact finding Sir!

milk itself doesn't contain enough lactase to digest lactose for you. you have to produce it yourself. humans aren't meant to drink milk beyond infancy. some people just aren't capable of making lactase when they're older. You've lost the genetic lottery. I can't imagine how vile your farts smell, raw milk is nasty unless that shit fresh from a cow.

I remember that too, I was a teen in the 90s, and I collected the ads from my magazines and put them on my walls. I remember reading the fine print at the bottom like "what is this ad actually for??" But I just liked collecting pictures of all my favorite celebrities 😂 And I've hated milk my entire life due to an extreme allergy as a baby and kid, so my family never drank milk.

To see a video essay on this topic from a creator I love is like whiplash. Previously the only thing I knew about the cheese caves was my ex burst into our dorm room, waking me up in the process, ranted about the cheese caves passionately after being told about them in their Econ class, sipped their water, then bid me to go back to sleep. A similar experience of whiplash.

I hate the government and distrust it fundamentally. But hearing that they helped create stuffed crust pizza started to undo that a bit

Being a cheese specialist you should know that casein when eaten and then broke down by the body is turned into casomorohine which produces similar effects as morphine . Casein when broken down in the body turning into the drug casomorphine produces ten percent of the same effect as morphine on the mu opioid receptors in the human brain this was found out by the 🇺🇸 government in 1979 by 1980 the pharmaceutical industry is already doing studies on humans and animals with a drug known as casein peptides the reason being the drugs the pills of the day are causing people to vomit and have constipation . The government realizes that using casein peptides to make morphine and other similar medications from animal products is easier on the stomach. @alexandralamberton5615 yes. The shop I work at occasionally carries mizythra, which is a very chalky and dry goat and sheep blend cheese meant for grating onto food. A serving of mizythra is almost 1000mg of sodium. I ate a small piece and was bloated for two days 😬 so it definitely depends on the type and how much you consume. It's pretty easy to overeat on brie because it's less like a cheese and more like a dip. I can't bring any home with me anymore because I'd legitimately eat the entire thing in one sitting

As someone on ketogenic carnivore diet whose eaten over 160+ pounds of cheese in the last year alone, yet remaining at the same weight after dropping 180 pounds in a single year 3 years ago, I'd argue cheese isn't bad for you. Avoid eating fatty foods with carbs and sugar, or just avoid the carb and sugar altogether. Anecdotally I went from pre-diabetic to an ac1 of 4.5, now can exercise every week for 500 minutes without any pains, and I overall feel better. Cheese is also good for me as I often suffer from salt deficiency, calories wise a block of cheese makes an excellent convenient lunch, the cholesterol issue is a non issue to me as I run on fat for fuel. Cheese is pretty close to a protein gram to fat gram, carb free super food for a ketogenic diet or carnivore diet allowing dairy. All that said, I don't know if I'd be replacing my grass-fed cow cheese with government cheese anytime soon. Yuck.

They are hiding cheese types from us. I was at a Mexican restaurant and the waiter put a cheese dip with some chips on the table next to us that a family was sitting at. I asked the waiter "What type of dip is that?" and he responded "Not your cheese." Like I knew this wasn't my cheese but I still wanted to know what kind of dip it is so I responded " I know that, but I still want to know what it's called. What's the name of this dip?" He looked me dead in the eyes and told me "Not your cheese." I didn't think he got the question. So I asked he again sternly. "I KNOW that, but what is this cheese called?!" His face turned to confusion and he broke eye contact with me. He then responded harshly "Not your cheese!" I grabbed him him by the collar "WHAT TYPE OF CHEESE IS THAT!!!" A waitress across the room responded to me "Queso!". Be safe out there guys. They are hiding the truth from us.

Funny story. The owner of a paving company i used to work for bought land from a very, very, large Cheese company. When the dirt work started to build his new mansion, they hit a massive, foul smelling pocket of dank, moldy, sticky earth.
