Subramani Karuppaiya (born 25 May 1939), known by his stage name Goundamani, is an Indian film actor and comedian. He is better known for his comic duo partnership in Tamil films with fellow actor Senthil. Eventually he was called as Goundamani for his ability to give counter dialogues on the spot and off the script (as a warning to his co artiste to be prepared) on stage and during shooting as per Bhagyaraj who was writing scripts and title credits for Bharathiraja in his early days during the movie 16 Vayathinile. Till date he has acted over 310 films approximately.
Rangaraj Subbaiah (born 3 October 1954), known by his stage name Sathyaraj, is an Indian film actor and media personality who has predominantly appeared in Tamil films. He is popularly known for his works in Baahubali (franchise) and Chennai Express. He started his career in villainous roles and later played lead roles. He has acted in over 200 films, including Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada films. He met with success with his lead performances Vedham Pudhithu (1987), Nadigan (1990), Amaidhi Padai (1994) and the Tamil Nadu government-sponsored film Periyar (2007). He also received acclaim for supporting roles in Nanban (2012), Raja Rani (2013) and his role as Karikala Kattappa Nada in the two-part epic Baahubali.[2] He was also the director of the film Villadhi Villain (1995), starring himself in three different roles.[3][4][5]
In 2011, he had a brief career as a television host for the game show Home Sweet Home on STAR Vijay.[6] He has also served as a brand ambassador for Pothys and Kumaran Jewelry Shop.[7]
Manivannan (31 July 1953 - 15 June 2013), popularly known mononymously as Manivannan, was an Indian film actor and director. In a career spanning three decades, Manivannan went from being a story and dialogue writer for veteran director Bharathiraja from 1980-82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor.[3] With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and has directed exact 50 films.[4] Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian or the villain's role.[3]
During his lifetime, he supported various political parties, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He later became affiliated with the Naam Tamilar Katchi and had long supported its ideology of Sri Lankan Tamil nationalism.
Gautami went to GITAM University in Visakhapatnam to pursue Engineering. She made her first appearance at the age of 17 in the Telugu film Dayamayudu, that was produced by her cousin.[1][3] She was introduced to Tamil films through Guru Shishyan, a film that starred Rajinikanth and Prabhu.[1] She was most active in Tamil cinema from 1987 to 1998 and was a tough competitor to the other heroines of her time, Kushboo and Bhanupriya. Her filmography includes classics like Apoorva Sagodharargal, Raja Chinna Roja, Thevar Magan, Panakkaran, Guru Sishyan, Ooru Vittu Ooru Vanthu, Dharma Durai, Rickshaw Mama as well as Mani Ratnam's Iruvar (1997), which co-starred Mohanlal, Prakash Raj, Aishwarya Rai, Tabu, Nassar and Revathi.
She has acted in the Tamil serial Indira in the lead role. She made a guest appearance in the song "Chikku Bukku Railu" with Prabhu Deva in the film Gentleman.[1] She had hosted a talk show in Sun TV titled Anbudan which was launched to compete with Koffee with Anu running on STAR Vijay.[3] She acted in the serial Abirami which was telecast on Kalaignar TV.[4] She made a comeback to the film industry in the late 2000s as a costume designer for films starring her partner Kamal Haasan. She won the Vijay Award for Best Costume Designer for Dasavathaaram.[5] After sixteen years, she returned to acting by starring in the Tamil film Papanasam in which she was paired with her partner Kamal Haasan.[6]
